"Hey," Maureen pounced in.
"What do you want?" Joanne said not looking up from her work.
"What are you talking about pookie? I just want to spend time with my favorite girlfriend." Maureen knew how to get what she wanted.
"So there are others."
"What no…..I mean of course not!" Maureen said sitting in Joanne's lap trying to persuade her.
"What do you want?" Joanne said this time putting her pen down and looking at Maureen who was still sitting in her lap.
"Well I was think of…..think of getting a piercing."
"Where?" Joanne wasn't completely against the idea but some places where just too awful to think of.
"How about I'll surprise you?"
"No!"
"Come on pookie, let me just surprise you," Maureen said twisting Joanne's hair a little.
"No! What do want to get a hole through?"
"My nibbles," Maureen put on her puppy dog face.
"WHAT!" Joanne pushed Maureen off of her lap.
"Yeah won't it be cool!"
"No," Joanne said giving Maureen the evil eye.
"Can I do it?"
"No!"
"Come on please," Maureen got down on her knees begging Joanne.
"No!"
"Why not?"
"Cause it is gross!" Joanne put plainly.
"No it isn't," Maureen persuaded.
"It is gross. If you do it then you can craw back to the loft." Joanne walked out the door. Maureen sat on the couch, she had lost this battle but there would be others.
