"Arthur."

Said blond jumped and looked up at the other with wide, green eyes.

"What is it, Alfred? I'm reading." He replied, Alfred's fond smile and sparkling eyes did not falter from his face.

"I love you." The taller blond's smile grew larger and his pearly white teeth shone through.

Arthur looked confused for a moment before replying "I know," and gave a light chuckle, "I love you, too, Al."

"Just wanted to let you know." Alfred's everlasting grin continued to stay plastered on his face, even as he sat down next to the shorter blond on the lounge as said blond read his book.

A few moments passed before Arthur began to get annoyed.

"Now what? Al, I'm almost finished my book, I'd like to do so in peace."

"I love you. A lot." Alfred beamed.

Arthur sighed and closed his book before leaning forward and placing it gently on the coffee table, knowing all too well that he wouldn't be able to finish it today. Not with Al like this, at least.

"I know. I love you a lot, too. What's gotten into you today? Did something good happen? Something bad?" He asked, worry seeping into his tone at the last words.

"Nope. Just wanted to let you know." Al continued to smile, how the other managed to smile so much was beyond him.

"Alright, something's up, you're normally only like this when you're planning something, or when something's happened." Arthur crossed his arms and awaited his answer, however all he managed to receive was a hug.

Two strong arms encircled his body and pulled him close. Alfred was warm, not too warm considering the fact that it was winter, but warm enough to seep through his skin and make its way to his heart.

He heard Alfred's muffled words of "I love you so much, Arthur." from his shoulder, where the American had nestled his head.

"I know. I love you so, so much." Arthur smiled.

"There! Mission accomplished!" Alfred let one arm fall from the small of Arthur's waist to fist-pump the air.

"What mission?" Arthur asked, removing himself slightly from Alfred's hold to look up at the taller male's face.

"My mission to make you smile."
