The sun rays coming through her window make Gwen realise that a new day has begun and even though today is her birthday she doesn't want to celebrate it now that her father is gone.
The work in Camelot is always the same, attending Morgana and her needs, meeting Merlin for a small talk when they have a chance and helping Gaius in anything she can, just to spend more time in the castle and less at home, alone.
Morgana surprises Gwen with her first present. It's a simple woollen tunic but it's enough for her because that makes her see that after these years with Morgana there is a good friendship between them, more than a handmaiden and master relationship. Her second present and surprise comes from Gaius, who knows how hard it's for her to be alone now and what better than a bottle with lavender essence, which would help her getting some rest during the night.
But the most surprising of the presents is the one she finds when she arrives home at night. She is ready to go to bed but stops when she sees a small box over the table. She opens it excited and anxious, wondering what it would be. Gwen suspects it had to be from Merlin, he was the only one that hasn't given anything to her, not that she is expecting it, but he is the one left who could give her something on this day. She opens the box to find a small paper with the words Look Inside, Guinevere written on it. There are no other rooms in the house apart from her room so she opens the door and can't hold a gasp when she sees what has happened there. Near her bed, in the left side a small fire lights up the room and keeps it warm, over the bed there are new and larger covers and over them some flowers (she can't recognise them). She is amazed at the sight, so much that she doesn't notice the quiet man standing at her door with a big smile in his face after seeing her happier than she had lately been.
