She was running with all her might, her boots sloshing when they made contact with the very frequent puddles. Hyuuga Hinata was running to catch a bus.
The short girl with strange opal eyes had been studying at the main library and unfortunately lost track of time. If Hinata didn't catch this bus then she would have to wait thirty minutes for the next one. Usually during the day the buses ran every ten minutes; it was not the case at 11 PM.
During Hinata's time at the library, a huge thunderstorm rolled it's way to her campus town. It was raining heavily and the wind was picking up. And, because of her luck, Hinata had forgotten her umbrella.
Finally, I see the bus stop! she thought, a relieved smile pulling up her lips.
The smile instantly vanished as she saw her bus pull away, spraying water at her. Hinata was now stuck at the main library, by herself, in the pouring rain. She wondered if she looked as miserable as she felt.
"Fuck!" a low voice growled. The sheer unexpectedness had scared Hinata out of her skin.
Turning to the direction of her voice, pearl eyes saw the profile of a tall young man with dark hair and pale skin. Hinata noticed a bit enviously that he was holding an umbrella and was effectively dry.
She hadn't meant to narrow her eyes and pout, and Hinata sure as hell didn't mean for this stranger to look at her as she was making such a face.
His face contorted, obviously not pleased with receiving a dirty look from this random, sopping wet girl at the bus stop.
"What? Do you have a problem?" he barked.
Hinata instantly snapped her head away from him, her face bright red with embarrassment and chagrin. She clutched her hands to her chest protectively. Navy tresses were sticking to her forehead and face.
Hinata didn't notice when the stranger had moved or how he had gotten right next to her. But she noticed that the rain was no longer falling on her.
Looking up, opal eyes met obsidian eyes.
Hinata sucked in her breath, her heart hammering against her chest as she was about to back away from this guy.
"Hey, look, I'm sorry about how I spoke to you earlier. I didn't mean for it to sound that mean. I just haven't had the best of days so I took it out on you. Sorry."
"Um…it's okay. I-I'm sorry for staring in the first place. I was just jealous that you had an umbrella." Hinata chuckled, offering the stranger a small smile as she extended her hand out to him. "I'm Hyuuga Hinata. Nice to meet you."
The guy took her hand and shook it. "I'm Uchiha Sasuke. Are you waiting for the 22 north as well?"
Hinata nodded her head to answer his question.
"Well we have twenty minutes until the next one. I also noticed that there isn't a bus shelter here and the library is closed. So I don't mind sharing my umbrella with you," Sasuke said.
Hinata blushed at the kindness.
"Thank you, Sasuke-kun."
"Don't mention it. You looked pretty miserable and you're a sopping wet mess. You've made my day slightly better." Sasuke offered her a smirk.
Hinata's mouth was agape in mock horror and offense. She playfully smacked Sasuke's arm.
"That's rude. Just like you, Sasuke-kun." Hinata gave him a mischievous grin.
"I won't deny that. So you're the opposite of a hot mess and I'm rude. I can live with that."
"Well you're sharing your umbrella with me so you can't be that rude," offered Hinata.
Sasuke turned his head to look at her, smiling. He liked this girl. She was cute and playful, despite standing in the middle of a thunderstorm in soaked clothes.
"Anytime Hyuuga."
She gave him another smile. Hinata was glad that she forgot her umbrella. Otherwise she wouldn't have met the handsome and sarcastic Uchiha Sasuke.
