Silena smiled as she and Charlie slipped out of camp, into the night, duffel bags over their shoulders. They were escaping for a much needed vacation and she couldn't wait. They were going to find their way down to Miami for a few days of war-free fun.
Once they were clear of camp Beckendorf picked her up and twirled her around as she giggled gleefully. They ran to the nearest bus stop. They waited for about twenty minutes before the next bus showed up.
"How far can this bus take us?" Charlie asked the driver.
"I can only take you as far as D.C. kid." The driver said gruffly. He was a grumpy man in his late forties who looked like he'd rather be anywhere else.
"Perfect." Silena said, smiling.
She and Charlie climbed onto the bus, picking a seat near the back. Soon Silena fell asleep, her head resting on Charlie's shoulder. He smiled down at her, his eyes full of love. He fell asleep himself not even ten minutes later, his head resting on hers.
They woke up to the bus driver yelling at them to get off of his bus. They got of quickly, taking in the sights.
"This is amazing!" Silena said, awe written all over her features as she spun in circles to take in everything.
"Everything is so… Greek." Charlie said quietly. His eyes were wide and curious as he looked around.
"Charlie we did it!" Silena said cheerily, jumping up and down. "We're on vacation!"
Beckendorf smiled at her excitement, grabbing her hand.
"We still have a way's to go." He said, pulling her along to a sign he said that said "Tours".
A double decker bus showed up and Silena smiled happily as they paid and took seats on the top. Every once and a while Silena would get all excited and point to something the guide talked about, and Beckendorf would smile lovingly at her.
"That was so cool." Silena said as they climbed off of the tour bus. "What next?"
"I was thinking we could rent a car and drive to Miami." Beckendorf said coolly.
"What are we waiting for?" Silena teased. "Let's go!"
Charlie laughed as he walked with her to the nearest car rental, getting a cheap little convertible. They climbed in and Beckendorf drove while Silena gave directions. A few hours later Silena was asleep as Beckendorf drove through the night to get them to their destination.
The next morning Silena woke up to find the car parked near a beach and Charlie asleep in the driver's seat next to her.
"Charlie, this is it!" She squealed happily, waking him up.
"Yeah. We made it at about four." He said sleepily. "I wanted to surprise you with an ocean view."
"Thank you." Silena said, smiling from ear to ear, and hugging him before shuffling around in her duffle and grabbing her swimming suit and running off to find a bathroom or someplace to change. Beckendorf smiled and grabbed his bathing suit before finding a bathroom to change in.
When he walked back to the car he saw Silena already on the beach, building a little sand castle. He smiled and walked over to her. She smiled when she saw him and stood up and hugged him.
"Charlie, this is the best!" she said quietly in his ear.
"It is." He said back. "But it isn't being in Miami that makes it great."
Silena pulled back and looked at him quizzically.
Before she could say anything he smiled and said, "It's being with my girl that makes this the best vacation in the entire world."
"Oh, Charlie…" Silena said wistfully, smiling up at him.
"I love you." Beckendorf whispered as he pulled her closer.
"I love you too." Silena said fervently.
Charlie leaned down slightly, his lips meeting hers as he kissed her affectionately. He pulled away, leaning his for head on hers.
"I love you more."
