Raven locks splayed across his chest
Its ringlets quiver with each breath
Darkened lashes flutter on ivory lids
Each salted tear they deftly hid
Silence filled the empty room
Unspoken words it did consume
Each willing for a spoken word
But neither tried; neither stirred
And slumber slowly came to rest
Her porcelain cheek he caressed
In dreams her petal lips he kissed
While really chances he had missed
When they woke life did go on
Smiling faces they did don
And to the world they played their parts
While safely guarding their two hearts
