A/N here is a super short one-shot of how I think Percy felt on their first quest. The part at the beginning that is underlined and italicized is a direct sentence from the book.

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN PJO IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM. NO MATTER HOW MUCH I WOULD LIKE TO!

We ran across the street in the back of the big rig, closing the door behind us. Once the door was closed we couldn't see a thing. One thing is for sure, the smell was putrid. I took riptide out and uncapped it. The sword shot out of uncapped pen and left a faint glow around it. I held it above my head to illuminate the rig as best I could. The animals were in deplorable conditions. There was a Zebra with some uncooked fleshy meat just rotting there, an albino lion with a sack of turnips just carelessly thrown inside the crate, and an antelope with a silver balloon attached to one of it's horns and the same kind of meat that was put in the Zebra's crate. In all three instances, the crates were dirty and way to small. They looked miserable. I could almost feel the amount of disgust Grover was feeling right now.

"This is…" I trailed off with a lack of word.

"Inhumane, disgusting, absolutely unacceptable?" Annabeth finished, clear disgust in her voice. I could just shake my head in agreement. Grover looked like he was about ready to open the truck to beat up the drivers. I was getting ready to hold him back, because we need to finish this quest, and this was the only way west.

When he was about to move we heard the engine roar to life, and I heard Grover sigh in defeat.

"I know this is killing you G-man, but this is our only way west. Come on let's sit before we fly because of the movement of the truck." We all silently agreed to sit in one of the corners. As I was about to recap riptide I couldn't help but notice the way the light from my blade bounced of Annabeth's princess curls. Casting an almost heavenly glow on her beautifully sculptured face. I felt my heart rate speed up, so I quickly recapped riptide and hoped no one could hear the pounding in my chest. All throughout the rest of the rife I kept reminding myself. Remember she hates you. She went on and on about how we could never cooperate, the feud between our parents is too great. Eventually I just dozed off. With the constant reminder that she can never be mine.

A/N I hope you enjoyed the very short one-shot! Have a nice day! R&R
