Disclaimer: I am not Gaston Leroux. He is dead. I am not. So, obviously, I do not own The Phantom of the Opera. Nice as that would be.

The funny thing about people is, they tend to be attracted to what they can't have. Some more than others. Raoul is one of those people who can't stay away from what they can't have. From the time he was a child, he couldn't take no. But what was forbidden, grew from sweets to more.

As a young man, he spent much of his time in the bedrooms of young ladies from other families. Their gowns would fall aside, despite their protests, for no made them more desirable.

That night at the opera, when he heard Christine sing, he knew that rank forbid any kind of romance between them. This is why he went after her. When she sent him away, the humiliation only whetted his appitite. Erik brought him more joy still. It was all a game to Raoul, as was the rest of his life. Erik's attempts to keep them apart made the game more excited.

Christine didn't know this she thought Raoul really loved her, and she loved him. But now Erik is dead and she and Raoul can live happily. She envisions a happy life, a home. Lots of children. She doesn't know that this will never happen. Raoul won't last long. He can't live without no. Eventually, he will leave in search of it. And where will that leave our Christine? All alone and hopelessly confused and sad. She didn't heed Erik's warnings. And now he is not there to comfort her. Poor Christine is all alone.

Well? Thoughts? Reviews make me smile! =)
