Breathing heavily from his intense training session, Vegeta stepped out of the Gravity Room for the first time of the day to get some real food into his system before going back for another rounds of training. No one, and he meant NO ONE, could hurt HIS family and get away with it. Especially when the future version of his wife was brutally killed. The thought of her death just made his blood boiled.
He was distracted from his thought when he entered the kitchen.
"Vegetal!" His wife greeted him cheerfully from the dinning table.
Vegeta nodded at her while heading straight to the fridge.
"Did you know what Trunks did? I mean our Trunks, ummmmmm, the little one, did you know what he did? He decided he have had enough of seeing the older Trunks weeping and tried to beat some senses into him, with his fists! I guess he didn't understand it when I said he must never pick a fight with anyone! Must have been your influences on him now he is trying to solve things with his fists," she looked at Vegeta and made sure he was listening before she continued, "little Mai told me our Trunks told the older one that he's not a Saiyan enough or something. I wonder where did he get that idea from because surely, it didn't come from me," by the end of the sentence Bulma was glaring at Vegeta.
"Hn."
The food is now forgotten and before he knew, he was standing in front of his son's room on the second floor.
Trunks looked away from his favorite TV show when he sensed his father standing outside his room. A big smile broke out on his face upon seeing his father. Ever since his father returned from the future after losing their fight with Goku Black, Vegeta has spent most of his time training in the Gravity Room.
"Papa! You're out! How was training?"
Trunks jumped off from his bed to greet his father but he winced from the sudden moment. His whole body hurt from his fight with his future self. A fight, with his future self. Now he knew the reason why his father is here.
"Erhh did mama tell you about the fight? I knew I shouldn't have picked a fight with him, but you didn't see him! He was acting so weak and he dared to call himself a Saiyan, or even worse, a Trunks! I won't let him do it to Mai, or to Mama! I would never let Mama die in my watch!" Trunks breathed heavily.
His nose became stuffy as he spook, a side effect of his tears, which made it harder and harder for him to catch his breath, Trunks looked down again.
"I've made a promise to you Papa. I will take care of Mama! I will never ever let anyone hurt you or Mama!" he shouted, turning his tear-shiny eyes towards Vegeta, "NEVER!"
Before he knew it, Vegeta was kneeing in front of him, with his jaw in his right hand to check out the wounds on his face.
"Hmmm… it's not that bad. Might want to clean them up before you go to bed."
"I'm sorry, Papa."
"I'm not angry with you if you're wondering." He murmured.
Trunks nodded.
Without another word, he let his son go in one swift move and walked toward the door, "and dry your tears, Trunks. You're my son, and no son of mine cry," he added before he walked back to the kitchen.
A smile spread across Trunks's face as his father leaving his room with his signature smirk.
