Darkness swept across the Paris skyline, corrupting everything it touches.

And Marinette doesn't know if she can stop it.

She felt the first whispers that morning in class. The teacher was talking about something, but she just couldn't pay attention. She was restless.

The teacher nearly sent her out twice. Nearly. Oh how she wished she acted on that feeling back then. It would have been worth the trouble she would have gotten in.

But in the end she had stayed, and all of Paris paid the price.

The dark cloud hovered menacingly above the school. Every so often a butterfly broke away from the rest and fluttered away. At first, Ladybug tried to stop them.

Then the first akumas came.

Something hit her side, sending her rolling.

She tumbled off the roof, only just catching the edge before falling. Above her Lady Wifi laughed, leaning over it.

"Not feeling too heroic now, are we?"

She let go before Lady Wifi could pause her, landing hard. She heard a small sound behind her and turned, bracing herself as a flock of pigeons flew into her face.

Further down the block, she could see Chat fighting both Stormy Weather and Timebreaker.

"Hey, my Lady. Keep your eye on the prize." Copycat smirked, taking out his baton.

Another black butterfly flew by her head, reinfecting Kim. The akuma molded into a replica of the brooch it infected last time as he was enveloped in purple light. He launched out the window of the school, turning to face her.

Dark Cupid smirked down at her. "I'll keep this in a safer place," he said, sticking it in his quiver.

"Ladybug! Look out!"

Ladybug jumped back as Rock landed, cracking the pavement where she had been standing.

She dodged and wove her way through the akumas, ending up back-to-back with Chat.

"Any ideas, my Lady?"

Ladybug sagged slightly, watching her friends turn evil again.

"All I can say is, try to turn their attacks against each other. Make Stormy Weather freeze the roof so they can't climb up top and jump us. Especially Rock. And see if you can figure out where they hid the akuma. They seem to have their memories back from before."

Chat crouched down, getting ready to jump. "We have no chance, do we?" He asked quietly.

"It doesn't look like it. But I'm not giving up. They'll have to take my Miraculous from my cold, dead body. And even then, I'm going to make sure it isn't easy."

Lady Wifi towards them, a pink butterfly outline showing around her face. "Hawk Moth is willing to make a deal. He won't kill you, and he'll leave Paris alone, if you give him your Miraculous. Please Marinette? I don't want to hurt you."

Ladybug froze for a moment, then shook her head. "If I did that, the world would be in danger, let alone Paris. I'll never let him have Tikki."

She felt Chat stiffen behind her. Another voice joined the crowd around them as she looked for a way out. If she could get Chat to safety, he could-

"He really means it, my Lady."

Ladybug spun around, backing away from her partner. Purple light enveloped him as his suit changed from black to white.

"And I'm going to make sure you don't become a needless sacrifice."

"But Chat! How could you?" She asked, tears in her eyes.

He smiled sadly, getting ready to fight her. "Because you are my world, my Lady."
