Need Not To Need

Summary: A Dwarf only has a 'one'. They don't marry or fall in love with anyone else. It isn't unheard of for a family line to have the same 'one'. So when a broken Kagome ends up in Middle Earth she doesn't know how to react when thrown into a new adventure and to be the 'one' for the Durin Line.

Pairing: Kagome/Fili/Kili/Thorin (harem)

Prologue

x-X-x

Kagome looked around from where she sat on the ground, eyes dead to the world, no emotion. She couldn't believe everything was done. She had finally completed it.

Bloodied hands held and equally bloody jewel, eyes still voice of emotion as she looked at the innocently blood covered artifact. That so much dead and distraction came from this single pink marble.

That everything she held dear was gone and never coming back because this thing had come out of her body and she shattered it.

It was all her fault.

Tears started to leak down her face. Kagome sat there in the battlefield, blood soaked the ground she sat on. She was covered head to toe in the blood of her enemies, her friends and even her own blood, but she didn't even move from the spot she sat.

Corpses littered the battlefield, from demons and humans alike. Dead...everyone was dead.

She should be dead...just like them.

She shouldn't live...she didn't deserve it.

The tears continued to flow down her cheeks, making a streak from where the blood once been, but now clean from the tears she was shedding.

'Why did I live...'

Kagome closed her eyes, the jewel clasped in her hands, as she curled into herself, hands over her heart as she collapsed into herself. Maybe when she woke up she would be dead.

Maybe she wouldn't remember the pain anymore.

And maybe...maybe she would be happy again.

Midoriko sighed as she watched the young woman who she had watched over since her journey began, silently beg for dead...beg to be happy again.

She didn't want it to end this way for her, but there was no way to fix things...but maybe she could help her. She just needed to figure out how. Kagome deserved happiness. She had done so much, she had made sure her soul didn't end up in the wrong hands.

Made sure the human race wasn't wiped out by evil...the price she had to pay for it though...Another sigh left the dead miko's lips as she continued to watch the battlefield that was now more of a graveyard.

There was one thing she could do to help the young miko...it was a big chance a deep breath Midoriko made preparations, hoping that this worked.

It was her only hope.
