Yeah, so...I kind of just made this up as I went, so don't go all critical on me. I wrote it for a group of friends who love Starship to death. It takes place before the musical...like, WAY before the musical...I don't know, maybe not that long ago...Oh...JUST READ.

Bug gazed at the stars, like he always did on clear nights. But this time was different. This time, he was laying on the rock, gazing at the stars, with Bugette at his side. He looked over at her to see she was still asleep, though a human would have never guessed, due to the female insect's clear eyelids. Bug sighed with content. Somehow, this was much better than he thought it would be. When he had arrived earlier that evening, she had already been there, sleeping peacefully on his rock. He didn't want to push her off, but he didn't exactly want to sit with her, either. He decided it would be easier just to sit with her; She was asleep, anyway.

Bugette stirred, and her eyes focused on Bug's hand (which was absent-mindedly in hers). She looked up at his face. He was still focused on the stars.

"Bug?" She mumbled groggily. Bug tensed with a hint of dread, but he relaxed.

"Hi, Bugette."

"When did you get here?"

"Oh, about...six hundred billion wing beats ago."

"Oh..." She said. "...Why didn't you wake me up?"

"You looked so peaceful. You were obviously having a good dream."

She was. She had dreamt about Bug. About tearing his head off, and letting her pupa devour his body...

"Oh, Bug. You're so sweet...like nectar." She sighed as she sat up next to Bug. She squeezed his hand, expecting him to move it out of her grip, but he left it in hers.

"Bugette...has anyone ever told you...that you talk in your sleep?" He asked nervously.

"I...I do?" She asked, her green exoskeleton turning pink with embarrassment.

"Not much...but...you said names..."

"Names?"

"Well, my name."

"Oh."

Bugette felt like crawling under the rock they were sitting on and never coming out. She had said his name in her sleep, and he was right there to hear it.

"It's okay...I...Humph..." Bug cleared his throat awkwardly. "I kind of dream about you, too."

"You do?" Bugette looked at him hopefully. Did he really mean it?

"Yeah, Bugette. I may wanna be a Starship Ranger and all, but I need a partner to fight hostile natives with."

"What about Roach?" She asked incredulously. Bug laughed a little.

"He is my friend and all, but he wants to be a bug for all of his life...You know, the needs of the many bugs-"

"Outweigh the few bugs...or the one bug." She finished.

"Exactly." He said as he shifted closer to her. "So, Bugette...do you wanna be my Starship Ranger?"

"Oh...Of course I will, Bug!" She exclaimed.

"That's great! I can teach you Human language...and we can watch the videos on the abandoned spaceship-"

He was cut off by a kiss to the cheek. Before he let Bugette say anything, he kissed her on the mandibles. They stayed there for what seemed like forever. When they broke apart, Bugette started making gurgling noises, which would sound like choking or vomiting to a human, but in reality, she was laughing with joy. To Bug, it was the greatest sound in the world.

Yeah, so this may not be anatomically or politically correct, but there you go. :3
