Matt couldn't believe what he had just done. Just a few minutes ago, right at the end of the school day, he had asked Jessica out on a date. And what had she said? Yes. He had just realized the magnitude of the situation. Why had he done it? Because he liked her. Why had she said yes? He didn't know.

This was the first time he had ever asked a girl out on a date. He just couldn't stop thinking about it. He liked Jessica, he really did! But why would Jessica like him back. Every one of his friends thought he was a nice, caring person, always there for someone who needed somebody. Matt just was like that without realizing it, he always had something else on his mind, but every time he had thought about when he was nice to someone, he didn't remember what he was thinking about. Ugh, Matt, why are you complicating your thoughts? Said Matt's inner voice. Matt said back, I don't know. Asking Jess out has really screwed this shit up.

Matt tried to spend the rest of the night not thinking about Jessica, but he kept seeing her beautiful face, hearing her fluttery laugh. Matt knew he'd have to wait until tomorrow evening to see her again, though.
