Hey people! I am back with another story! I hope you enjoyed the last one about Caleo or Lelypso, so I hope you enjoy this one!
Reyna POV
I heard the sound of sobbing coming from the bathhouse. Something was clearly wrong.
I remember the fight between Annabeth and Percy, how Annabeth yelled at Percy.
*-*Flashback*-*
"Percy, I really don't want to be treated like a princess! I just want to have a normal boyfriend!" Annabeth yelled at Percy. I stood to the side, witnessing everything happening.
"Annabeth…" Percy started, but Annabeth cut him off.
"Don't try to apologize to me!" Annabeth stormed.
"I am really sorry!" Percy cried back. Tears were starting to form.
"I said, don't apologize to me!" Annabeth screamed.
"But…"
"Don't 'But Annabeth' me. I'm breaking up!"
Percy's held back tears spilled over his eyes. He fled from the cabin.
"Annabeth Chase! Why did you do that?" I reprimanded.
"I'm tired of being treated like a princess!" Annabeth yelled.
"You know, you might have lost one of the few people who actually cared about you." I snapped harshly. I walked out of the room, cape billowing as I strode away in anger.
The next few days was really bad. Percy decided to re-join the legion, and I was happy for that, because we gained a strong fighter.
Over the next few days, I found Jason not talking to me.
If you are confused, let me clear this up.
After the war, Frank didn't want this position as he didn't have enough time with Hazel, and I respected that. Rome then elected Jason, and as praetors, we fell together.
Back to where I was.
I packed everything that I needed to get back to New Rome, and Percy went with me.
Because a son of the sea in the air is not that good, we decided to travel overland, using trains. Unknown to me at the time, there was another unwanted passenger on the same train, using her cap.
I had expected Jason to frequently IM me, but once Annabeth and Percy broke up, Jason suddenly became… distant.
Four days passed, and we arrived at New Rome just in time for the Feast for Fortuna.
When Percy wasn't training, he stayed close to the bath houses. Water soothed his sorrow, but it wasn't enough to quench it.
*-* Flashback end*-*
"Reyna, I've decided to resign."
Those were the words that shattered me.
"But J-jason. What about me?" I stammered. He didn't answer.
"Senate meeting in twenty minutes." he called as he walked away. As we walked away, when he was just an insignificant dot in the crowd, I thought I saw a girl with blond hair.
It can't be her, I remember her staying at Camp Half Blood, I reminded myself.
I sighed, and put the thick binder of things I needed to do away. On my way to the Senate House, I thought about the things that happened previously.
I thought about Percy's constant sulking, staying in the bathhouses. I thought about the horrific rant thing that Annabeth had. I thought about Jason, how he wasn't really making contact with me.
I stepped into the Senate House and took my seat. Taking a look around the people inside, my heart sank.
My suspicions were right.
Annabeth Chase was here as well. Soon, everyone assembled, and Jason came in as well, fiddling with something in his pocket.
Annabeth gave Jason a loving look which he returned slightly.
"First things first. Why is Annabeth Chase here?" I growled at Jason. Jason gave me this cold smile, his eyes glittering, standing up.
"Annabeth, come here." Jason called, his voice cleverly hiding a tone of love.
My heart fell even further, below Tartarus. Annabeth and Jason met at the center of the room, just as Percy walked in, with a Lare following him.
His mouth fell open in shock, and Annabeth fixed him with a stare that showed no remorse.
Jason got on one knee, and pulled out a small box. A ring box.
That's when I felt Percy rush to me, when I felt my breathing slow down, just before I blacked out.
Percy POV
"Fine!" I cried, and the Lare tried to push me to the Senate House. I went on my own, and I got to the area just as Jason and Annabeth met at the middle. I saw Jason get one one knee, and I noticed Reyna turn a bit pale, and her breathing became hitched. I knew something was wrong, so I ran up to Reyna, and scooped her up just before she crumbled on to the floor.
"Treason!"
"Cheater!"
"Liar!"
The Senate House started to throw insults at Jason, causing chaos.
"Percy, take Praetor Reyna to her cabin." one centurion whispered in my ear, and I jogged off, attracting stares. I frequently check on Reyna to make sure she was in a comfortable position, and once I reached her cabin, I set her gently on her bed.
I couldn't believe that Annabeth moved on like I was nothing.
I saved Olympus twice for Heaven's sake!
Reyna looked so fragile. It made me want to just hold her with me. I decided to stay with her anyways. Tears were still streaming down her face, and Reyna was slightly hiccuping.
"Percy Jackson, are you not going to greet your girlfriend?"
Without looking, I slashed through the rainbow. The sun had set, leaving streaks of moonlight flitting across the room.
I sank down to my knees, engulfed in grief again. I felt small, wet beads hot my back.
Reyna.
I felt her slender but strong fingers grip my shoulder.
Before I knew it, I had Reyna in my arms, our lips meeting for a passionate kiss.
It was heated, yes, it was loving.
What had overcome me?
I swear on the River Styx I didn't do anything, Aphrodite said in my mind. Seeing that nothing happened to her, it was just me, or Eros.
I swear as well. I promise you, Eros said.
I still had Reyna wrapped in a hug, even though we broke off from the kiss.
I took a closer look at Reyna.
Her eyes that were usually calculating and hard were now fragile, loving. Her expression that was usually hard was now bearing a faint smile.
Even with the warmth that was radiating off, she still shivered. Despite her thin smile, despite her loving eyes, I saw the fragile girl inside of her.
She was still broken. I wanted to comfort her. I didn't know what to do.
"Reyna." I whispered, my voice laced with comfort. Well, at least I tried. Her eyes met mine: the same fragility interwoven inside.
Reyna's expression suddenly changed. Her eyes pooled with tears, and her smile faded into a sad thin line. I scooped her up and placed her in her bed, pulling the blanket over her shoulders.
"Don't leave me, please." she begged, "I only see you as light. Everything else is darkness."
"I'm just going to get a sleeping bag. I'll be right back." I whispered into her ear. Reyna nodded, and I quickly ran from the room. Just seconds after I left did I hear a scream.
Reyna's scream.
I sprinted back in, and I saw Jason and Annabeth pointing their weapons at Reyna.
"Let. Reyna. Go. Now." I growled through gritted teeth. My hands were now curled up in fists, and a greenish blueish aura was flickering around me. I felt my eyes grow hot, and wisps of the greenish blueish aura were floating around me. Jason and Annabeth looked terrified, and let Reyna go. They slowly backed out of the cabin, and Reyna's eyes widened.
"Lightning bolt." she whispered. My eyes shot up, and it was heading for Reyna. I shoved her out of the way, and I took the bolt. I crumbled to the ground, pain coursing through my veins. I had never been in this much pain before.
"Take me… water." I mumbled as Reyna helped me up. My vision danced before my eyes, and I saw darkness.
"Reyna, I have a surprise for you!" I sang as I walked into Reyna's office. I ha become praetor as well, allowing me to spend some more time with Reyna.
"But Percy! We still have things to do!" Reyna protested.
"Leave those to be. We can finish them later." I coaxed. Reyna sighed, and stood up.
"Where are you taking me?" Reyna asked, curious. I just smiled sweetly at her, and we came to the shore. I then produced a basket, surprising Reyna. I pulled out a blanket, setting it on the sand, and pulled out a few plates. Three small containers of food and three bottles of water were produced as well.
"Percy, you shouldn't have!" Reyna cried, putting her hand over her heart. I had something else hidden under the folds of my praetor robe. She sat down, and we ate together, talking about things that were not related to the problems of Camp Jupiter. Once we were all done and the garbage was cleaned up, I pulled out the mysterious something.
I pulled the little velvet box out, and opened it, "Reyna, would you like the honor of becoming Mrs. Jackson?"
Reyna's eyes filled with tears…
"Percy!"
I opened my eyes to see that I was in the medic ward of Camp Jupiter. Reyna wrapped me in a hug.
"Hey Reyna." I whispered in her ear.
"Percy, after Jason struck you with lightning, I thought you weren't going to come back." Reyna cried into my chest. Clearly, Reyna is still a bit shattered from yesterday, making her a bit emotional.
"Percy, we have another Senate Meeting in an hour. Your presence has been requested, though not mandatory if you can't stand." Reyna added.
"I can stand." I said confidently, and slid out of bed. I stood just fine, though I walked with a slight limp. We got to the Senate House with 15 minutes to spare, and most of the people were already assembled. Jason was sitting on his respectable praetor's chair, and he kept on shooting glares at Percy. Percy took the guest chair, and I took my praetor's chair.
Reyna POV
"First things first. All of you have heard about the assault that Praetor Jason and Annabeth Chase did to me." I started, looking around the room. Everyone nodded, and Octavian looked at me.
"Yesterday, the two broken the Praetor's Promise." I continued.
More nodding.
"Because of those actions, I do not see Jason Grace fit for praetor. Senate, raise your hands if you agree with me." I announced, and everyone's hands went up.
"I see Perseus Jackson as a possible candidate for praetor. Is there anyone else who would like to run against Percy?"
Octavian raised his hand. The people that weren't on his side rolled his eyes. It was no secret Octavian wanted both me and power. Just thinking about it made me shudder.
"So it will be Percy against Octavian." I concluded, but a Lare raised his hand.
"Can we have the election be run the old way? Where they fight to see who is stronger then have an election?" the Lare asked. The Senate nodded, and it was official.
"The Senate has agreed. Percy Jackson against Octavian. First sword fight, then the election," I summarized, "Senate dismissed."
Everyone left, but Percy stayed.
"Reyna, you…" Percy fell speechless. I smiled gently.
"This is the best thing I could do after you saving me last night." I said, shrugging it off. Had it not been Percy, I would have most likely died.
"There's something I've been meaning to ask you. I need to talk to you in private though." Percy said, leading me away to his cabin.
"What is it Percy?" I asked, then an alarm went off. Camp has been attacked.
"I'll tell you later!" Percy called to me as he ran to the border. I drew my dagger as well, and I found Percy having a really fine sparring match with another turned demigod.
Why were they attacking?
A sudden shadow fell over us, and a horde of monsters snuck on us.
Silver arrows suddenly rained down, killing most of the monsters, but leaving some. I sliced those into powder as more waves came, more arrows came.
Percy POV
It was hard, the demigods were putting up a great fight. Soon, no one wanted to challenge me, as the other demigods retreated, and the monsters were all sliced into dust. A feeling of disaster settled over all of us, and the army just… disappeared.
I heard a sharp intake of breath, and I turned to see Reyna falling from an arrow from the opposing side that hit her chest.
"Reyna!" I yelled. Reyna's breathing was slowing down as blood was slowly oozing out of the wound. I checked her pulse, and soon it slowed to a stop.
"Percy…" Reyna whispered, just before her eyes rolled up on her head. I let loose a horrific cry, devastated. I had, yet again, lost someone that I loved.
As Reyna's life force slowly faded away, the camp's spirit slowly started to fade.
She's gone. Reyna's gone.
Alright, so this is the first chapter of this story! I hope you enjoyed it! I'm sorry that I might of made you tear up, but that's part of the plot. Please review, and I will see you all in the next chapter!
