Summary: Ash and co. find themselves trapped in a maze of an illusion. Their only help in getting out is from an odd girl with peculiar gold eyes. Once free, they are met by the girl's sudden absence and an off-colored Zoroark standing in her place! To their surprise, they later run into the same woman yet again- only this time she comes with the company of a male with long, green hair.
Pairing: N/Kagome
Disclaimer: I don't own either series. Each belong to their rightful owners.
Note:
Zoroark!N; Zoroark!Kagome (I always loved the N is a Zoroark theory. It's a favorite of mine.)
Prologue
Her ears twitched a few times at hearing the distant noise of chattering humans, and she slowly picked her head up to glance in the direction the noise was coming from. She remained still for a few moments before sitting up even more, picking up and tucking the sleeping kit at her side into her dark purple and burgundy mane. Her ears twitched again, picking up the sound of footsteps and loud voices drawing closer and closer.
Jumping from tree to tree, she followed the path to the approaching figures, stopping when she landed on a high-up branch in a tree a few yards away from them. They were heading in the direction of her den, and she narrowed her eyes at the appearance of the humans. Her gold eyes took on a bright glow, and a wave of illusion spread throughout the area.
She observed how they came to a cautionary halt, listening to how they began to question the changing scenery around them. They blamed taking a wrong turn, and she watched as they turned in a different direction with hopes of backtracking their steps. Silently, she followed after them- leaping from tree to tree as she trailed after them to keep them away from her lair.
She kept at this for a good hour and a half, merely watching them turn in circles continuously, checking the maps they carried as they began to quarrel betwixt one another.
It was then that she decided to drop down from the treetops, and the yellow mouse sitting on one of the boy's shoulder turned to face the direction the noise had come from. Its long ears twitched as it hopped down and made its way over to the shrubbery and foliage she had landed in.
"Hey, Pikachu, what is it?" the boy questioned, very quickly following behind his companion before it could peek through the green.
She cast a different illusion before standing up with her Zorua cradled in her arms as he continued to sleep. A smile was on her face as she stepped out of the bushes she had been hidden in, and she greeted the humans with well-hidden wariness.
"Sorry," she called out to them. "I fell trying to get back onto the path, and I must have startled your friend when I tripped over an above ground root."
The three looked at the figure hobbling out of the bush. Despite what she really looked like, the only thing they could see was a human female. Her skin was pale, and her hair fell in uncontrollable raven locks. A few tips of her hair stuck out like tufts at odd angles. She opened her eyes, and she locked gold eyes on the three watching her.
"Are you lost too?" the boy with the Pikachu asked her. "Man… what's with this place?"
"You really should be careful," she cautioned them, a small smile rising to appear on her face. "Haven't you heard that a Zoroark lives in this forest?"
"A Zoroark?"
"They'll cast illusions to guide humans and other threats away from their lair. It can be pretty dangerous if you find yourself heading towards a cliff while under the spell of an illusion." They were stunned into a fear-laced silence at her words, and she offered them another wide grin. "I can show you a safe way out, if you need some help~"
"R-really…?"
"Yup!" she nodded her head and took to walking ahead of them. "Just follow me and you'll be out soon…"
They had no other option and thus fell into step with the odd woman that had appeared out of the blue. It was silent for a few seconds as she led them, but it was soon broken by the boy with the Pikachu.
"What's your name, anyway?" he asked her. "My name is Ash, and this is my buddy Pikachu," he stated as he motioned to the electric mouse sitting on his shoulder once more. Following his lead, his companions soon introduced themselves to her, as well.
"I'm Iris," a girl with long, dark violet hair stated next before nodding at the Pokemon she carried, "and this is Axew."
"My name is Cilan- a pleasure to meet you!"
She blinked as she listened to them list their names off to her, and she turned for only a moment before looking back ahead of her. "... my name is Kagome," she relented and told them the name she called herself as while under the illusion of being human, "and this is my Zorua," she added on, but she did not slow her pace any to let them see the still-sleeping Pokemon. "It is… good to meet you all as well," she stated once finding a decent enough word to use.
She had led them far enough away, and she let the illusion manipulating the area around them fall and fade into nothingness. The trio behind her gave a cry of relief at seeing familiar territory. They rushed ahead of her and further away from the area that had been entrapped in illusions. She watched them for a few more seconds before a smirk flashed across her face.
A chance for something fun, a chance she couldn't bear to pass up...
Kagome allowed the illusion covering her to fall, and when the three turned around to thank her for helping them out, they were greeted with the sight of an unusually colored Zoroark standing in the place the woman had been in just moments ago.
They gave a wide range of reactions, but, before any of them could try to get close, she presented them with another illusion as she filled the area with a blurred haze of white.
She fled the area under the cover of it, letting out a loud yip of amusement as she made her way back to her den with her kit now back in her mane.
Auroua-chan: Honestly, the Zoroark-N theory is still great imo. I wanted to do something like this a long time ago, but never got around to fully doing it Couldn't sleep, so I finally got this completed and such.
Note*
Zoroark tends to live in groups, yes, but Kagome is a rare one (shiny) and is therefore without a pack. She was "cast out" due to being different.
Anyway, thank you for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! I also hope I caught all the errors before posting- sorry if I missed any.
Please remember to Review&Favorite&Follow, thank you!
