Surprise, kids. I'm still alive.
This is just a little thing that I came up with in about twenty minutes. I figured that it's about time for me to post something new, so why not this?

"The Innumerable Wonders of This Earth"

Everywhere I walk, there seems to be jagged shards of shale eagerly waiting to pierce my skin. Being deprived of life, I feel the sharp, stabbing pain resonate through me, but I do not bleed.

Why should I?

The very thing that once sustained me has been ripped from my hands, stolen away by despicable monsters right before my eyes. And I, at the innocent age of three months, was forced to watch them devour my own heart only seconds before I fell. Because of that, that one loss that rendered me lifeless, I shall never show weakness again. In this terribly cruel world, I have learned to bear the pain and carry on.

For at the end of this golden-sanded stretch of land, redemption awaits me.

Somewhere along the way, I glance down at what remains of my battered feet. Freezing cold water lashes my ankles, and instinctively I shiver. But as the waves withdraw, preparing to strike me again, an unfamiliar yet incredibly welcome sensation beneath my left foot captures my attention. Curious as I always have been, I reach down to take the object in my hand and inspect it further.

It's a tiny oval-shaped pebble; smooth and white with a pinkish tint to it. Wrapping my fingers around it, I hold it close to me as I continue on my journey. As the pain begins to fade away, I realize with a smile that there could very well be more pebbles just like this one in the world.

And, now that I know of their possible existence, I must search for them.
