The events of the today worried Gwen, she had just found out that Morgana had helped Alvarr escape. She discovered this when she heard the warning bells go and went to check on Morgana, only to find an empty vial of sleeping potion and no Morgana. She went to find her worried for her life, only to see her walking out of the great hall with such hate in her eyes. Gwen felt sick.

Morgana was her best friend but she had become more distant over the last couple of months, she felt like her hate for Uther had consumed her. She knew that Morgana's dreams were more than just nightmares and she had suspected for a while that Morgana had magical abilities, her suspicions confirmed by her helping Alvarr to escape.

She would never talk to Morgana about this or anyone else for fear of Uther finding out. If Morgana wanted to confide in her she would be there. But for now she felt completely helpless, Morgana was walking down a path that she could not follow and this worried her.

She was deep in thought when she heard her name called and she jumped.

"Good evening Guinevere, I did not mean to frighten you" Arthur said approaching her.

"My lord, I am sorry I was not expecting to see you here" she said

"I saw you leave and I thought I would escort you home" he said smiling

"There is no need sire, I do not want to inconvenience you" she said genuinely.

"It is no trouble in fact I insist, we have still not found Alvarr and the streets may not be safe" he said and stood by Gwen's side.

She nodded and started walking with Arthur towards her home.

Gwen was deep in thought when she felt Arthur place a hand on her arm to stop her, she turned to face him.

"Something is troubling you Guinevere" he said looking concerned.

"Why would you say that my lord" she said looking at him. Her loyalty to her friend meant that her thoughts today should remain her own for her safety.

"Because we have passed your house and you did not even notice" he said half smiling.

Gwen looked around to see they were nearly at the entrance to Camelot, she blushed.

"Why did you not stop me My Lord" she said.

"You seemed like you were deep in thought and I did not want to disturb you, although as we are nearly leaving Camelot then I thought I should stop you" he said.

Gwen felt like her face was on fire. "I am sorry My Lord, my mind seems to be elsewhere this evening".

"I can see that Guinevere, what is troubling you?" he said looking at her.

She did not want to lie to Arthur but she could not open up to him either, not in this matter.

"Nothing that a good nights rest wont remedy" she said smiling.

Arthur sighed "So you are not going to confide in me Guinevere" he said.

"I cannot" she said lowering her head.

Arthur nodded and they both turned to walk back to her house. They walked back in silence both in there own thoughts. When they arrived at Gwen's house he turned to look at her.

"Guinevere I know things have been difficult, but I want you to know that if you ever need to talk about anything" he smiled and continued hoping to cheer her up, "I mean anything washing, the latest fashion, gossip, what you ate for dinner, how much of a great king I will be, anything I will gladly listen" to this Gwen laughed.

"I will bare that in mind Arthur, although I doubt you want to talk about fashion" she said smiling.

"Oh I don't know I am quite a modern prince" he said to this they both laughed.

They looked at each other smiling "Thank you Arthur" she said.

He smiled and stroked a curl away from her face.

"You are more than welcome Guinevere" he was so close she could feel his breath on her face and he leaned down and kissed her on her cheek.

"Good night Guinevere" he said and made his way back to the castle.

Gwen leaned against her door and smiled.
