Hi! I wrote this story based off a dream I had one night; crazy things happen in dreamland. Fair warning. :P It's also the first fanfic I've ever written and I'm thinking of writing three to five chapters so I hope you like it!

Brittany suddenly twirls like an excited twister causing her skirt to fly through the air as the centrifugal force pulls it away gracefully. Simon looks upon the sight unfolding before him with some surprise for he has rarely seen the pink-dressed Chipette act in such a joyful manner for something so small. Just then, a flash of light blue catches his eye among the spiraling pink. Without really meaning to, he spots the source of the unexpected color just below the fabric fluttering in the wind.

"Why blue?" he wonders to himself before catching what he's doing.

Shyfully he looks away for a moment and from the corner of his eye notices the spinning beginning to slow. The skirt finds itself settling down to rest just below mid-thigh once again as the Chipette begins to sway from the circular movement. The swaying intensifies and Simon diverts his full attention back to his friend, quickly bridging the handful of feet that separate them.

"Are you okay Brittany?" he chuckles after he grabs her hand to provide the stability she needs.

"Whoa. That was a bit more spinning than I am used to."

Noticing Simon's support, she thanks him from preventing her from falling onto the grass and soiling the attire she just purchased earlier in the day.

"I nearly ruined my Marina Rodenchia outfit, but thanks to you it is still just as amazing as when I bought it. I still cannot believe she let me buy the first pieces of her new collection before they are even released!"

A few moments pass and her excitement dies down just enough to continue their conversation.

"So, do you like it?" questions Brittany with a subtle squeak of joy still evident within her voice.

He didn't really get the chance to give the selection a close look for she was too busy frolicking around ever since she bumped into him walking back to the treehouse. The sun had peaked in the sky, warming the spring day to the perfect level of warmth against their skin.

"I uh—"

She looks up at the slightly taller chipmunk eagerly waiting for a response. Amused by her almost puppy dog like expression and enlightened by the rays of light bouncing off her, Simon lets out a small grin, ignoring the fact that fashion is not much of an interest to him. In his eyes she already looked beautiful.

He scans quickly over what she is wearing. The top is a simple pink sweater, very much similar to the one she frequently wears, but this one displays a slight sparkle around the collar, the ends of the sleeves, and the base above her skirt when the light hits just right. Looking down on the still skirt he witnessed waving in the wind moments earlier, he begins to notice the wavy patterns sown into the fabric. The smoothness to it held his gaze until he suddenly remembers the flash of blue he saw earlier.

"Why blue?" his mind asks him again, breaking his thoughts about her outfit.

As he thought of possible reasoning to the oddity, he found his mind begin to drift to other thoughts related to that same article of clothing; a behavior he frequently finds himself repeating when faced with an unknown, but why this? Why her?

"Well Simon? I don't have all day."

The sudden remark snaps him out of his thoughts. Her voice contained a little snippiness as it did sometimes, but there was an equal amount of playfulness to it as well. Aware that he's been staring, he feels his cheeks warm as he looks away from the skirt to meet her gaze.

"Doesn't it look fabulous?"

Quickly composing his thoughts, he surprisingly finds himself agreeing. The artistic style was unlike that of the usual design he had long been accustomed to her wearing. He was still absorbed by what he saw.

He manages to finally answer her question, slightly nervous considering that he caught himself staring while thinking of her lower undergarment.

"I-it looks quite fascinating. The design has a fluid complexity I have never seen, on clothing that is. It is simply memorizing."

He didn't say this last part out loud, but judging by his initial nervousness, she knew he liked what he saw so she smiles and performs one more quick twirl. For some reason she quite enjoys seeing the blue-clad Chipmunk nervous. There is something about those moments she's repeatedly found cute.

Meanwhile, Simon notices that same flash of pale blue he witnessed earlier; this time, though much less obvious, he still found himself spotting it. Like clockwork, his mind went right back to the seemingly innocent thought that was beginning to nag him even stronger: "What are they like?" He had never really thought about such a thing before.

"Thanks Simon. It took you long enough to say something."

A slight tease for sure, he thought.

"I'm planning on wearing it to this weekend's party. Will you be there too?"

Even though not much of a partier like Alvin is, he had still been invited to attend. He couldn't remember the occasion of the event, but he wouldn't mind going if not only to see Brittany sporting her new outfit.

"I'm not sure," replied Simon, uncertain about the response. "I might need to finish up my latest gadget and—"

"Of course you'll be there. Your, um, doohickey will still be waiting for you after the party."

She wanted him at the party, with her. She enjoys his company more than he realized, yet she wouldn't dare say it aloud.

Aware that she's teasing him, he let her comment slip without correcting her.

"Alright, you win. I don't know what I should wear though."

"Don't worry about it. I'll, I mean, we'll figure something out. Until then, I have more shopping to do. Bye Simon!"

Brittany touches his arm as she turns to head back to the mall. Simon watches her go and lets out a small chuckle when she spins once more before turning the corner further down the street.

Left alone, he begins to think of what she'll choose for him to wear. She did say they would pick something out together but knowing her, she'll likely offer up a surprise. After a few moments of ridiculous ideas, he decides he'll deal with the attire issue once it comes up again.

Talking to himself, he begins to stroll back to the Seville House.

''I guess I need to finish my new invention before the party then."

As he walks, he finds his mind drifting back to the details of their encounter and a smile breaks across his face. Brittany's fast twirling. Her little teases. The flash of blue. He shakes his head trying to remove the details of his last thought, but he finds them stuck like molasses, determined to stick with him.

What do you think so far? Not bad for a first timer? I hope you enjoyed it so far. I took a leap out of my comfort zone writing/posting this and there's still more to come! Reviews are very much welcome.
