If anyone's seen Casablanca, well tweaked one like from there and there's two other lines from there too. What? Its a great movie! Go watch it if you haven't seen it. Enjoy ;)

As time goes by.

Well, it's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die.
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by.

"Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine."

"They had a date with fate." She laughs taking a seat next to him. Waiting....waiting....

He laughs- its hollow- and takes a sip of beer, signalling the bartender for another.

"We gona keep quotin' old movies or are you gona tell me why your here?" His voice is bitter and his eyes are dark though she doesn't comment on the changed man.

"...I came to say I was sorry."

He laughs- again it isn't humorous –and leans back on his stool with the new beer in his hand. "Sorry for what?"

She turns- incredulous -to look at him. "For leaving. For not jumping. For not coming sooner. For not...for not telling you...that...that I love you." She turns her head away, suddenly fearful, though she can feel his eyes on her.

"Why now?" He sighs, taking another sip of the beer. "Why now Kate?"

"Because...because before, I didn't know what was going to happen when- if- we left the island. I didn't finally want to find someone I cared about then have them taken away..." She turns her head back to face him, and as she looks deep into his eyes she wonders if she did the right thing by telling him. She chokes back a laugh, what is the right thing? She should know by now that there isn't always a right or a wrong. Though there is that doubt in her mind; has it been too long?

"Oh so now you've found out how it is, what it's going to be like...well now you want me....you just figured you wouldn't call or write until it was good for you. Same old Kate....you have added Jacko into the equation haven't you? Cos' y'know the I-don't-know-who-I-want is getting old." His eyes stare holes through her and suddenly she remembers who this man is. This man is the man she saw the first day they crashed on the island, the man that fought with everyone, the man that didn't have an ounce of sympathy or kindness to show. The man that was really a scared little boy who didn't know which way to turn, who didn't know who he could trust, so he locked himself away because then he wouldn't get hurt, would he?

"Same old Sawyer: a complete jerk that pushes everyone away when they say something that shows some compassion." She hits back, trying to push for some emotion other than bitter. He sits and says nothing. Well, there's always a first time she thinks to herself. She doesn't say anything else and neither does he so they sit in silence until it becomes uncomfortable. "We're never going to, are we?" She smiles. He sighs- hearing - understanding what she means. We're never going to be together.

"I wish I didn't love you so much." It's said quick and quiet and she almost doesn't catch it- almost doesn't hear- but she does and she knows he knows she has heard. He ducks his head and looks up at her through deep blue eyes and gives an embarrassed smile and shrug.

"We'll always have the island?"

"We'll always have the island."
