"A Brother In Need"
Chapter One
It all started one morning when Guapo and Fraz woke up. "Gooood morning Fraz" Guapo said cheerily like every morning. "Morning Guapo" Fraz said in a congested tone. Guapo climbed down the ladder of their bunkbed, and walked to Fraz. Fraz lied in bed with black circles under his eyes, and his dark blue nose was red. "Fraz? You don't look so good" Guapo said. "I feel terrible" Fraz replied. Guapo put a hand on Fraz's forehead, and noticed it felt hot. "Beejabbers Fraz! You're hot! I better take your temperature!" Guapo cried.
Guapo rushed into the bathroom. He came back out with a thermometer and walked back over to Fraz in bed. "Say "ahh""Guapo said. "Ahh" Fraz replied and opened his mouth, where Guapo stuck the thermometer under his tongue. Guapo waited a second before removing the tongue from under Fraz's tongue. He checked and saw that it read 96 degrees. "Bejabbers Fraz! You have a fever!" Guapo cried. Fraz sat up in bed and sneezed loudly. "Can you get me a tissue?" Fraz asked. "Sure thing Fraz" Guapo replied.
He went back into the bathroom, only to find there was no box of tissues. So he grabbed a bundle of toilet paper off the toilet paper roll and left the bathroom. He returned to his and Fraz's room, where he once again approached Fraz in bed. "Sorry Fraz. We're out of tissue" he apologized as he handed the wad of toilet paper to Fraz. "That's okay Guapo" Fraz replied as he took the wad of toilet paper, and loudly blew his nose into it. "Thanks bro" he said as he handed the now mucus-soaked wad of toilet paper back to Fraz. Guapo had a grossed out look on his face as he went into the bathroom a third time to throw away the slimy wad of toilet paper, and wash his hands.
He came out of the bathroom and told Fraz he was going to head down to the lounge to get him a glass of orange juice and an ice pack for his fever. He exited the room, walked down the hallway, and entered the lounge. Inside the lounge Valerina, Ai, and Squeege were sitting at the table eating breakfast. On the floor Snowball The Cat was eating out of a cat food bowl, and Crystal the lamb was eating grass out of a bowl as well. As Guapo walked over to the fridge everyone told him good morning. "Morning everyone. Listen I can't join you for breakfast. Fraz has a cold, and I'm getting him some orange juice and an ice pack for his fever" Guapo replied.
"Aw I'm sorry to hear that. Poor Fraz" Ai said sadly. "I hope he's okay" Valerina replied. "Me too" Crystal also replied. "Meow (Me three)" Snowball also replied. Guapo poured Fraz his orange juice, retrieved the ice pack from the freezer, and left the lounge. He re-entered his and Fraz's room and walked over to Fraz. "Here Fraz. Drink this orange juice" he said. "Thank you little brother" Fraz replied and began sipping the orange juice as Guapo placed the ice pack on his forehead. When Fraz had drank all the juice he handed the empty glass to Guapo, and lied down in his bottom bunk. "I'm going to work both our shifts today. You just get some rest you hear?" Guapo said. "Sure thing Guapo" Fraz replied and Guapo left the room again.
Guapo returned to the lounge, where he placed the empty glass in the sink. "Hey Guapo? Me, Valerina, Snowball, and Crystal would like to volunteer to help you take care of Fraz until he's better" Ai offered. "Sure Ai. That would be great" Guapo replied with appreciation.
Chapter Two
After breakfast Valerina, Squeege, Ai, and Snowball reported to Miss Boomdeeyay's office to receive their packages for the day. Guapo asked her to give him both his and Fraz's packages, on account Fraz was sick with a cold, and he would be working both their shifts for the day. After the couriers made their deliveries for the day, they stopped by grocery stores on remote planets. Valerina bought Fraz cold medicine, Ai bought Fraz chicken noodle soup, Crystal bought Fraz some more orange juice, and Guapo bought a box of tissues.
When they all returned to Retrograde they went their separate ways to put Fraz's cold items away. Guapo entered his and Fraz's room with the cold medicine Valerina bought, and with the box of tissues he bought. "Hiya Fraz. How are you feeling?" Guapo asked. "A little better. This ice pack has helped bring my fever down a bit" Fraz replied. "That's great Fraz! Valerina bought you some cold medicine, and I bought you some tissues!" Guapo cried. "Thanks Guapo" Fraz said with appreciation. Guapo fetched the tiny wastebasket out of their bathroom, brought it into their room, and set it next to Fraz's bed. He placed the box of tissues onto Fraz's lap and left the room.
He returned with another glass of orange juice that had the cold medicine in it dissolving. "Here Fraz. This has your cold medicine in it" he said handing the glass to Fraz. Fraz took the glass and drank all the orange juice and cold medicine in it. "Thanks Guapo" he said as he handed the empty glass back to Guapo. Just then he sneezed. He blew his nose into one of the tissues, and threw it away into the wastebasket. "That should help with your cold symptoms. Ai bought you some chicken noodle soup that I'll bring you at dinnertime" Guapo said. "Okay. Thanks Guapo" Fraz replied with appreciation. "Anything for my big brother" Guapo replied and left the room again. Fraz lied down, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
At dinnertime Guapo returned with a bowl of chicken noodle soup. Fraz was still asleep. Guapo gently shook him awake—careful not to spill the soup. "Hi Fraz. I brought you your chicken noodle soup" Guapo said. He sat next to Fraz on his bed, and began spoon-feeding him the soup. When he was done he asked Fraz if he was feeling any better. "A little. That cold medicine you gave me earlier helped my fever go down, and opened up my sinuses a bit" Fraz replied. "That's great. You should over your cold in a couple of days" Guapo said and left the room with the empty bowl. That night before bedtime Guapo brought Fraz a third glass of orange juice to drink. Fraz drank all the juice, lied down, closed his eyes, and went to sleep.
Chapter Three
The next morning, before leaving to serve both his and Fraz's shifts, he brought Fraz another glass of orange juice with the dissolving cold medicine in it. Fraz drank all the juice and cold medicine, and handed the empty glass back to Guapo. "I'm leaving for work now Fraz. I'm working both our shifts so you can get some rest. I'll be back when I'm done with them" Guapo said. "Okay Guapo" Fraz replied and Guapo left the room as Fraz lied back down and went to sleep.
When Guapo returned to Retrograde after working both his and Fraz's shifts, he went into their room with yet another glass of orange juice with dissolving cold medicine in it. "Time to take you medicine" Guapo said. He handed Fraz the glass and Fraz gulped down the orange juice and cold medicine. At dinnertime Guapo spoon-fed him another bowl of chicken noodle soup, and at bedtime another glass of orange juice.
The next morning when Fraz woke up his sinuses were no longer congested—he could breathe. There were no longer black circles under his eyes and his nose was no longer red. Also his fever was completely gone and he wasn't sneezing. Guapo woke up, climbed down the ladder, and approached. "Morning Fraz? How are you feeling this morning?" Guapo asked. "Great! I'm all better! My sinuses are no longer congested, I'm not having anymore fever, and I'm not sneezing anymore! All that orange juice, soup, and cold medicine cured my cold!" Fraz cried happily.
"You look better. You don't have anymore circles under your eyes, and your nose isn't red anymore. You also sound better. You no longer sound congested" Guapo replied. "Can't wait to get back to work. The Flub Brothers brushed their teeth, put on their uniforms, and left the room. As they entered Miss Boomdeeyay's office, she was surprised to see Fraz with Guapo. "All better are we?" she asked. "Yes ma'am! I feel fit as a fiddle!" Fraz replied. "Good. Here's your assignment for today" she said—handing Fraz a package, as well as Guapo.
The two Flubs got into their Hoog, where the giant foot behind it kicked them out into space. A wormhole opened up in the morning rainbow sky—taking them to their destination for the day.
