The clock ticked in the background as the Runemistress prepared her shop. A village I have not been to in awhile She thought to herself a grin upon her face. Outside of the large window children played. Watching them made Jeane smile. She chuckled a little as she got back to setting up the shop. It took most of the day, but she didn't feel tired. The last thing she found in the building was an old book. No one arrived and when the hour turned late and it turned dark Jeane grew restless. She opened the book and flicked through it.

In the beginning, there was "darkness."
Then, the "darkness" shed a "tear."
From that "tear," the brothers Sword and Shield were born.

Jeane shut the book. She stood up and walked to the window. Looking up to the sky many thoughts went through her head. Innumerable thoughts, thoughts no normal human could ever hope to comprehend. Like sounds that exist only to not be heard. Pure and perfect. Hidden in these thoughts where those thoughts that could be heard. Human thoughts, living thoughts.

How long has it been She walked towards the door of the shop put her hand on the knob. since I started this journey?

Why did the darkness shed a tear?

Was it for the sake of creation?

Or perhaps the darkness had no reason for doing so.

The Darkness was just that, darkness. Something cold and unfeeling.

She stood in place for awhile. She could go outside or she could wait here. Regardless they would find her or she would find them. It is the destiny of the stars. She was certain of this. Certain that she would never be alone again.

Before she had begun her journey she was always alone. The fact of the matter is escaping loneliness had been her entire reason for doing anything she had ever done. She wondered if others had ever felt the same.

Do the True Runes feel the same? Are they just looking for someone who eases their pain?

Jeane finally opened the door and stepped out into the afternoon air. Children where still playing. People walked by chatting. From across the street and old woman sat and stared at Jeane. Jeane smiled at the woman who by now had turned pale from the sight. She called for a young woman, most likely her granddaughter. Jeane knew what she was saying. I know that woman. When I was a little girl she was here. She looks exactly the same as the day she left with those strangers. Jeane chuckled because the womans daughter would be Grandmother your imagining things. She would dismiss her words as nonsense, maybe even introduce herself to Jeane later and tell the story as an ice breaker. Of course Jeane would never deny the grandmothers story. She would merely chuckle. The young woman would have done enough denying for them both.

The woman of course did just that and her and Jeane had a lovely chat before she left. Jeane wondered how long she would be in this village before the time to pick her up would come. It was nice to be among people, it kept her from being alone. However she always found better company among the Stars. Always something to do or someone to see. She thought back to all those she had met before and then forward to those she would meet.

The darkness need not be alone...There where no more tears to shed...
