You make your way to the edge of that cliff.

There's someone else there, though. You're surprised at that. (he can see it on your face)

He frowns, and you can see that he's just as surprised as you, too.

'What are you doing here?'

You blink—that question was odd, wasn't it?—but you answer anyways.

'Jumping.'

And you can't really tell why you're pouring out the contents of your heart (but you haven't got a heart, have you?) to this stranger that you've just met, this stranger with silver hair and green eyes.

But he just looks back down and pats the ground next to him—he's motioning for you to sit. So you do, and the two of you stay like that for a while.

You speak after a little, though—that silence is kinda getting scary. It's idle talk, but hell, it'll do.

'Why are you here?' You swing your legs idly-it would be so very easy to slip off the edge, wouldn't it?

He answers back after a little—his response is surprising.

'Same thing as you.'

And you two lapse back into silence again, except this time it's a little less comfortable.

You finally speak up again—that question just won't stop bugging you.

'Do you want to go first?'

He looks surprised—probably wasn't expecting that, you think.

'What?'

'Do you want to go first?' you repeat and gesture vaguely to the bottom of the cliff. 'You know, jumping.'

He raises an eyebrow, finally getting it. But he still shakes his head.

'No thanks.'

'Why not?' You'd want to get it over with, you realize.

He stands up, brushing his clothes off and smiles for the first time.

'There's room for two up here, you know,' he says.

You stare at his outstretched hand and then at his smiling face. After a little while you take his hand and stand up. He grins at you and you do too.

But this newfound friendship isn't going to last long because you're both jumping, but whatever.

A second's a lifetime in your case (and his).

…come with me? (just as simple as that)
