Nachmittag
Kurt sighed as he opened his locker and began to remove the books he would need for the next few periods.
"Good morning." Amanda greeted from behind him. Kurt jumped, completely startled by her. But his jumpy nerves vanished as soon as he glimpsed her bright smile. Instantly he returned one of his own at her.
"Oh, Hey Amanda." he couldn't help feel slightly fluttered. He ran his hand backwards in his hair. As much as he liked her, Amanda and him hadn't had the best track record when it came to dating. It wasn't the best thing to boost his confidence.
Their most recent date, for instance, went horribly and yet he had enjoyed that it ended with their first kiss. But he still had his concerns about it.
"So how did the chat with your parents go?" he asked rather hesitantly. He knew there was no way to avoid talking about it, but it didn't make it any less uncomfortable a conversation.
"I think it went well, I mean sure it took them a while before they completely understood and accepted that what happened wasn't your fault. And I may have embellished the crash scene to make it sound like you teleported me out while I was crashing, but in the end they gave in and agreed to let us continue seeing each other. And that's the most important thing, right?" Amanda was beaming at him in an encouraging manner which Kurt noticed and appreciated.
"Ja that's good… I mean great… I mean, you lied to them about the crash?" Kurt rambled out his thoughts.
Amanda giggled.
"Just to make you seem more like the hero of the situation. Which you were by the way, your friends probably would have ended up in a lot more trouble if you hadn't of been there."
"True, I guess."
"Definitely."
"Vere your parents really that impressed?" Kurt asked. Amanda just laughed in reply.
Kurt hunched his shoulders, blushing slightly, but he knew Amanda wouldn't be able to see him do so.
"At least they are still going to let us date." Amanda said again as Kurt finished grabbing his things and closed his locker.
"Ja, that's a good thing." Kurt agreed.
"I thought so too." Amanda replied as she hooked her arm with his and they began heading towards their first period class, which they had together.
"So Kurt," Amanda began changing the subject casually, "I was wondering a couple of things." Kurt didn't mind that Amanda usually took the lead with their conversations, he always feel awkward anyways.
"Vas?"
"Well I know guten tag is the usual greeting but how do you just say good morning in German?"
Kurt was a little stunned from her unexpected interest with his native tongue but he recovered quickly.
"Guten Morgen" he replied simply.
Amanda gave a quick nod of registration.
"Morgen for morning, what about afternoon?"
"Vell nachmittag means afternoon but we usually greet guten tag for good afternoon." Kurt explained, figuring her question was more for how to greet than the word in general.
"Well that's easy enough to remember I guess."
"If you say so." Kurt shrugged as they reached the classroom door. "Anything else you vant to know?" he asked as he opened and held the door open for her.
"Just one," Amanda replied pausing in the doorway, "Have you got any plans this nachmittag after school?"
