Here's a little drabble I threw together for a friend's birthday (and to procrastinate on my school work).

"Well kids, it looks like it's raining cats and dogs out there," Iruka said while turning away from the window and addressing the class again.
The statement caused a curious blonde child to tilt his head in confusion. It looked like there was just rain outside…there were no cats or dogs. Frowning, Naruto turned toward the person with the desk next to him: Uchiha Sasuke. Thanks to their last names, they were seated next to each other in class, which tended to lead to some disruption issues for the class, but Iruka refused to separate them. Apparently it was for their own good or something. Though, it wasn't like they hated each other, they simply refused to use the term "friend" to describe the other, even if they spent practically everyday, including weekends, with each other.
"Hey, Sasuke," Naruto whispered. "Sasuke."
The dark-haired, dark-eyed child glanced at Naruto from the corner of his eye before turning his attention back toward Iruka. This, of course, annoyed the blonde, causing him to puff out his cheeks and turn away from Sasuke, as if to punish him. Naruto was simply unaware that Sasuke knew he would try to ignore him if he refused to give in to the chatter.
The rest of the class went by with Naruto annoyed with Sasuke, but he had forgotten to ask the question he wanted the answer to. It wasn't until school had ended when Naruto remembered what he was going to ask Sasuke.
Spotting the other boy standing outside of the school with his black umbrella held over his head, Naruto rushed toward him, ignoring the water collected in puddles that splashed up and got his pants wet. He was on a mission to get the answer to his question.
"Sasuke!"
Again the other child simply glanced at the energetic blonde, but this time he turned toward Naruto, making him brighten up since he was actually getting the attention he wanted.
"Why'd Iruka say 'it's raining cats and dogs'? I don't see any kitties or puppies out here."
"Stupid."
"Hey! I'm not stupid!" Naruto countered.
"It's just a saying."
"Huh?"
Naruto watched as Sasuke sighed. What? Was it so hard to explain? Why would someone say that it's raining cats and dogs when there obviously were no cats and dogs falling from the sky?
"It just means that it's raining hard."
"Oh. Then why didn't Iruka just say that it was raining hard instead of raining cats and dogs?"
Again silence fell between the two, and Naruto now was noticing that his clothes were wet. However, a moment later a black umbrella was shifted over him, as well as Sasuke. It seemed that the other also noticed that he was getting wet.
"Thanks!"
"Hn."
The two waited outside until Sasuke's mom finally arrived. She then ushered both boys into the car and shook her head at how wet Naruto got, but he didn't care.
"Hey, Mrs. Sasuke's mom?" Naruto asked once he was seated in the car.
"Yes?"
"Do you think my mom would let me bring home a kitty or puppy if I said it was raining cats and dogs outside?"
