So, this is a three-fifths challenge, the prompts were kindly given to me by a fellow author, and good friend.

My prompts are: Quilt,Paper, A pet, Eskimo kisses and socks. I have to take three of these five prompts and work with them.

Well, here goes.

The clock ticked slowly as I lay staring at the roof above me, laying in bed I groaned as I forced my eyes closed; again they jolted open against my will, it'd been 3 nights since Christmas and the new house still spooked me, and I still didn't know why it did. It was half 2 in the morning, according to my phone(Who has time to read analog clocks anyway?) and I still hadn't got a moment of sleep since I'd crawled into bed, it must have been 12 when I finally decided to stop playing games and actually go to bed, and the journey along that long dark hall way annoyed me as always.

I mean, it wasn't that dark, there was a night-light half way down it, just opposite the bathroom door for anyone that needed to use it at night, but I personally don't think a night light helps when you'e looking down a long hallway with nothing but two doors at the end of it, one door was my room, and the other was the guest room, both, large wooden doors with hand carved designs upon them; the house wasn't even old, it was made a year before hand. But I knew it was haunted, I mean, how could it not be, it's built upon the grounds of an old orchard. (do you have any idea how many people die on an orchard?)

Still, that night I made the journey and as always nothing happened, but I felt like something was looking at me, same old, same old. In the time it's taken you to read this far, I'd have fallen asleep, but I didn't, not that night.

a mere two minutes after checking the time on my phone I heard the garage door, I thought it was being opened, after all the area has a history of the travelling community looting people's belongings from sheds and garages, I did what I assumed was the right thing to do, I climbed out of bed and grabbed my baseball bat, but as I walked down the hallway I remembered something,I was still in my socks and pyjamas, "Shoes... Fuck sake!" I turned around and swiftly grabbed my trainers, putting them on I moved through the house, making my way to he side door, nearest the garage; I turned all of the outside lights on and left the building, as I turned to face the garage I noticed the door was still closed, but my cats, Pumpkin and Poppit, were hissing at the garage door, their backs arched up and the hairs standing as they backed away from the door, hissing violently at it, I feared the worst and shouted at the door(Sounds crazy when I put it like that, doesn't it?) "Hello!? If there is someone in there, come out before I call the police!". No reply, and the light wasn't on either, but something did come out of the garage, a large, fat, gray cat slumped out of the garage, meat hanging from it's mouth as it padded away, the local alpha male had been stealing my cats food, I chased it and swung the bat at it, I missed, thankfully(I'm not a huge fan of animal cruelty, but that cunt was stealing from my companions!) as it escaped the garden my cats returned to their home, eating their food again.

Once I realised all was safe I returned to the house, locking the door behind me and turning all of the outside lights off, the cat wouldn't be back tonight, not that soon anyway, it was scared now. As I walked back to my room I kicked my shoes off into the hallway, and as I looked up to see my room, the night light flickered, and the door swung open; I always closed the door tight...
