Spock rolled over. He was aware of the emptiness of the bed. Too much space. Too little warmth. Thinking about her just made his longing worse. He thought about her nonetheless. It was not logical.
*
At night he restlessly rolled over to her side of the bed; his head on her pillow. He breathed in her scent and his longing intensified; it became almost a physical pain. From then on when ever he slept he used her pillow. It was not logical. He did it nonetheless.

In the mornings they always drank tea together, it was their ritual. Nyota drank jasmine tea. He drank the Vulcan red tea. One morning as he poured the hot water into his cup the room filled with the light jasmine sent. He had unthinkingly, unconsciously used her tea. He breathed the scent in, breathed her in. He was almost winded with longing. From then on he drank jasmine tea in the morning. It was not logical, he did it nonetheless.
