As the girl packed her bags for the long journey, she sighed. It had been so hard for her to take care of her younger sister, Hakumei, but also to leave her in Suna alone. "Hakumei…are you ready?" she called out as she stepped out of the doorway. She waited a few minutes before sighing again and started searching for the naïve little girl. "Come on Hakumei….I don't have time for this…..we need to go soon……Hakumei!" the older sister continued calling. She spent twenty minutes calling after the younger of the two until she found her outside.
Hakumei Hotaru was around seven years of age and had long blondish-brown hair like their late mother, but she had the eyes of their father. She usually wore a dress that was similar to her older sister's. The underneath of it was white and long sleeved with a little lace at the bottom. The fabric over the dress was a navy-purplish color with stars on it. She wore a belt that was diagonal around her waist. On her head was a white lacy hat with a pink bow on the side. At this moment, the small child was sitting in a tree.
"Hakumei….what ARE you doing up there?" she asked, walking up to the tree.
"I'm sitting in a tree Niji!" the small girl replied grinning.
Niji Hotaru sighed as she moved her purplish hair from her eyes. Her hair was long and was usually kept up in a ponytail by a yellow ribbon. Her eyes were a ruby color and they shined in the hot sunlight of Suna. The dress she wore had a white short sleeved dress underneath a purple dress with bluish sparkles. The older sister looked at her sister with wisdom-filled eyes as she sighed once more for the hundredth time that day. "Hakumei…let's get ready to go….we can't be late at all…" Niji said looking up at her sister with tired eyes.
Hakumei cocked her head to the side and looked at her sister with worry. "Niji-nee-san…..have you slept at all?" the small girl asked as she jumped from the tree and beside her beloved sister.
"Yes…I'm fine Hakumei….just…go get some clothed packed and other things you'll need…." she told Hakumei.
As Niji stood at the gates, she looked at her sister. "Now are you SURE you got everything?" she asked.
"Yes Niji! I got everything! Let's go!" the blond girl exclaimed.
Shaking her head she smiled a little and nodded towards her sister as they began traveling to the destination. They were headed for Konohagakure no Sato, the Village Hidden in the Leaves.
