His ocean blue eyes looked into my own brown eyes as I heard him mutter, "Forever, Max."
"No, Dylan.. I love Fang so much," I whispered, surprised that I could actually speak. I saw an icy hatred fill his eyes before they were calm again. It was like watching a storm pass; so violent, but so fast.
"Fang isn't here anymore, Max. Let it go, he's not coming back. He left you, he abandoned you.. and he's replaced you as well. He doesn't love you back, Max. He replaced you.. with you," he replied.
I snapped back, "He didn't replace me with me. Her name is Maya," I scowled as I said this, remembering Fang's words about her. About how she's unique and not like me. But she was made FROM me.. and he DID replace me.
"You don't believe what you're saying. I know you, Max. You can do better than him, Max. I'm better than him."
"You're not, Dylan! You're no-" Dylan then interrupted me.
"I love you, Max. I love you. Fang doesn't, but I do. Max, I haven't been around as long as him, but I am so in love with you. It's crazy. You make me feel so alive, so warm. Maximum Ride, I love you," his voice was so full of emotion. And everyone knows that I'm not the emotional kind, but his tone really touched my heart.
"Dylan, I love-" Dream Boy interrupted me again, but he did it with a kiss this time. It was gentle, calm, soft. I think I'm in love, too...
I woke up in a cold sweat. "That didn't just happen, no.. it couldn't have," I groaned. This was the second night I've had a mushy dream with Dylan in it, without Fang.
Something stabbed my heart right when I thought of my Fang. I remembered what I said in my dream, and what I thought.
"He didn't replace me with me. Her name is Maya."
Of course he replaced me. How could he have done it so easily? I wanted him back, but my thoughts drifted to when we last encountered. It was a feathery hell between us, and we dragged the Flock and his gang into it. It was calmer without him. But my emotions were still chaotic inside my heart. In fact, I'm surprised I haven't exploded yet. All I want to do is hurt Fang for hurting me. And then I'd hurt myself for hurting Fang for hurting me.
Somebody knocked on my door and every muscle in my body went tense as I became alert. It was Angel.
"Max, Iggy made some eggs and pancakes with a side of bacon and toast! I know you want some!"
I called back, "Yeah, I'll be there in a minute, Angel!"
I looked out my window, hoping to see a silhouette of a bird kid against the sun, my bird kid.. but as always, my hopes were crushed. I didn't see Fang. I never saw Fang. "Fang, I love you, please come home," I sighed heavily, my heart sinking lower and lower. "Please come home..."
