"Who is she?"
"Winry Svinch"
"Where is she?!" Edward turned quickly to the woman who answered him.
"She died in a train accident last year. Why, are you looking for her?" The woman looked to the picture on the wall.
It had already clicked in Ed's head that it was Sarah, Winry's mother. He turned back to the picture of the smiling girl. He could almost feel tears coming to his eyes. She looked exactly like Winry, right to her smile. She was leaning against a man, looking the same age as her, and just barley taller then her. A thousand thoughts ran past his eyes.
"Thanks." He turned and left the tavern he had entered.
"Brother! Brother; what about having Lunch?" Alphonse yelled as Edward left. Al just sighed and looked to the woman apologetically and went to get some food
Ed walked down the busy streets of the small town in the west of Germany. His heart raced and he didn't know were he was going. He kept walking till the street turned into a road, buildings into farms, then farms into fields. He stopped when he realised he was getting to far from the city, and that his little brother wasn't with him. He looked around and saw some apple trees; He walked over and stood beneath them.
He looked up at the blossoming apple trees. Green with small white flowers scattered about. He looked down and saw a single blossom lying perfectly on the ground. He picked it up softly, and held it in the palm of his hand. It lay there delicately. He could close his palm that moment, and it would be gone. No one would miss this one single apple blossom. He closed his eyes
Winry…I love you. I pray for your safety and happiness
"Winry…" Edward whispered, as a silent tear escaped his eye. He felt it roll slowly down his face. He closed his hand around the blossom, and kissed his fingers. He opened his eyes, then his palm. A breeze blew softly, taking the apple blossom with it. He breathed deeply and watched the blossom fly off in the breeze till he couldn't locate it with his eyes. He wiped his tear streak from his face with the back of his hand, and turned to head back to get Alphonse.
Winry sat on her front porch, looking down the long road leading up to the home she shared with her grandmother. The sun set softly in the east, leaving the sky soft, tranquil colors. She closed her eyes, and she could almost hear Ed running down the path with his arm smashed to bits once again. She opened her eyes, and seeing the empty path, her eyes filled with disappointment.
She stood and took one last look at the sun set, when she noticed something on the railing. She reached over and picked up the object, and now held a small apple blossom in her hand. She suddenly felt content, happy even. A small smile graced her lips and she headed into the house.
"What have you got there?" Asked her Grandmother Pinako as she entered the front door
"An Apple Blossom…" Winry said softly
"That's strange. Apple Trees don't grow around here…" Pinako said looking up at her granddaughter
Winry gave a small soft laugh, "I know…"
