"Might I ask as to our reason for trudging through slime and excrement?" Balthier asked curiously, gazing forlornly down at the grime caked to his boots and ignoring the trickle of blood running down the side of his face.

"There's a fiend down here. It's been scaring the kids or something. I said I'd kill it," Vaan replied, all but ignoring the sky pirate, dagger in hand as he stalked about the waterway, looking into each dark recess and turning away in disgust.

"Ah yes, of course, taking a break from saving the country to do petty jobs," he said absently.

"It'll help us in the long run," Vaan said defensively.

"How so?"

"We could use the experience," Basch said reasonably, drawing his sword and looking around the dank underground.

"Yes, experience," Balthier said, gazing at the knight. "I find this whole thing to be a bit degrading and it is only wasting time."

Basch didn't bother replying, frowning at the sky pirate for a moment before he returned his attention to Vaan. Fran was standing at the top of the stairs nearby, gazing down at them, an arrow resting in her bow, ready to be used.

"Coming down, darling?" Balthier asked. "It's quite lovely. Would look fetching against your fur."

When a reply from Fran wasn't forthcoming, Balthier returned his attentions to watching Vaan and Basch wander around. A pointless little quest and all ready he was getting claustrophobic. Sighing in dismay, he allowed this to continue.
