Title: She Burns

Author: Kora

Rating: PG

Genre: Drama

Summary: Liz and the "The Pittsburgh Incident".

Disclaimer: I do not own Abe, H.B., Liz, or anyone else - they belong to Mike Mignola and some ideas therein to Guillermo Del Toro and the film geeks and stuff like that.

Author's Note: I am not accustom to writing such short drabbles - but I wanted to do something in the lines of my Liz icon and the Hellboy/Liz theme 'Finch - What it is to Burn' (all credit to Jess, who picked such a lovely song to be their theme). I have never written in this sort of POV either, so hopefully it comes out right - it was more challenging and fun to write than I thought it would be - enjoy!

She never goes on missions, but here she is, and all because of him. He has been so kind to her - watching her favorite movies with her, letting her take his picture, letting her fall asleep on his shoulder. But he is always like that; he has been since the first moment they met.

Always somewhat shy, always eager to please, always trying to give her whatever she may need…

He gives her more than anyone. He gives her too much. She has been starting to feel it…

She feels confused and heartsick and these feelings grow worse each time she looks at him, bottling up to a volatile extent…

She tries to ignore it and it leads her to this. Four BPRD agents, herself, and Hellboy in an abandoned steel town outside of Pittsburgh. In the shell of a foundry. They are fighting body-possessing demon entities. They are losing.

Two agents are taken over and turn, they are fighting their friends and themselves and still there are more demons running around unchecked - angry, hungry…one of them makes a leap towards her.

And she can hear Hellboy calling her name in shock, in terror, but it is too late. Her chest suddenly feels terribly cold. Frozen ice melting all over her breasts and she knows the entity is trying to sink inside and possess her. She feels this empty darkness filling up behind her eyes and she moans with it, but the entity meets something it does not expect.

It comes across something angrier, hungrier…

The fire.

And suddenly she is not cold but hot. So very, very hot. Her insides melting with the molten lava of the sun. It swiftly pours through her, raging uncontrollable heat, and her eyes land on Hellboy.

His golden eyes reflect the flames coming off of her. Glinting with awe but mingled with the pain of whatever demon he is fighting. There are too many demons - they are hurting him, keeping him from her.

Suddenly the fire is no longer the only thing that is angry, not the only thing that is hungry for more…

And she burns.

She burns.
