Piper Hallliwell let the pen drop from her hand and roll across the lined pages of her notepad. It was too much. How had she ever thought she could pull off being a working mother? It always seemed so overwhelming and for good reason, she realized as she looked down at her mornings to-do list. Leo was off doing White-Lighter things and her sisters were both at work. The oldest Halliwell sank down onto the kitchen chair she had been standing over, quickly scratching down her list. Tears pricked her eyes, letting her know they felt a need to fall.
The Charmed one buried her head in her hands, long hair falling on either side, and tried to bring her emotions back under control. She did not have time for even a small breakdown, because her schedule was so packed. Maybe tomorrow she could take the time for a good cry between picking up Wyatt and dropping off the dry cleaning. A hiccup interrupted her internal debate. Her eyebrows drew together of their own accord, her chin trembling violently.
So much for the schedule, she thought mournfully as the tears began to fall in a flood. Being a mother and a Charmed one was so much harder than she had ever imagined. Giving in, Piper let herself cry for all the things she had lost in her life and for all the time she missed having for herself. She would make it through this, but it was still hard. Motherhood.
