Summary: A wraith learns some respect for Sheppard.
He had respected Sheppard for many things. His undying loyalty to his people, his ability to see past the present issue, his belief in never leaving a man behind, and even his stubbornness that would drive a lesser being over the brink of insanity. However, this event almost topped them all in the wraith's mind.
He, Sheppard, McKay, and Ronan had been walking for some hours to check out an energy reading coming from inside a deep cave. They had trudged through muck and slime without rest, and the humans of the group hadn't been able to eat yet. Needless to say this wasn't going over well with the human scientist.
His whining was grating on all of their nerves and no matter how many times Ronan threatened him with bodily harm (which had stopped working well after the first 4 hours of their trek) the fact remained that the team needed the scientist and so Rodney had continued to bellyache about food and rest.
'Todd' was pretty sure he could see a vein pulsing in his human 'brother's' forehead, and couldn't help but grin. Sure he had to put up with the egotistical scientist's whining as well, but it was almost worth it to see the frustration it caused Sheppard….almost. It was taking all his willpower to stop from threatening to feed on the scientist, although he was pretty sure that he'd seen Sheppard, and surprisingly enough, Ronan, glance at his feeding hand and back at Rodney a few times, inconspicuously of course.
It was at the point that Todd was about to resign himself to more hours of constant whining when Sheppard finally whipped around to face Rodney with a clenched fist. Rodney's face paled considerably, and at first Todd thought that Sheppard was going to hit the small neurotic human, but then he saw that Sheppard held something in his clenched fist. When he saw what it was he couldn't stop the wide grin that crossed his face.
Of course he had heard about Rodney McKay's deadly allergic reaction to citrus fruit, so the orange that Sheppard held was never a more welcome sight.
