Makuda woke up on a dim Sunday morning. The clouds were covering the sun, and there was a slight drizzle outside. The fog covered much of his large window, but he could still see. He groaned as he lazily slid out of bed, and landed chin-first on the hard linoleum floor. He sighed, and pushed himself back up.
Makuda Teridax walked over to the door and swung it open. The stairs seemed unusually larger today than they did yesterday. "Must be morning wooziness" he thought to himself. He started down the steps, with his usual, dragging pace.
He made it halfway down the stairs when he heard faint laughter coming from downstairs. It sounded almost feminine, but Makuda's mother hadn't been in the house for over 5 years. She was dead. Died of E. coli poisoning back in 2004.
He slid his hand farther along the stair rail, and then took a couple steps towards the foyer. Three more paces, and his feet touched the cold wood flooring. "Heeheeheeheehee! Haahaahaa!!!" the voice grew louder with every step he took towards the kitchen. Or at least he thought it was the kitchen. Makuda's house was all wrong. For starters, there was no kitchen. The area that should've been the living room was replaced by an empty stone space with virtually nothing in it. And the bathroom was clean and organized, but had everything except a toilet.
He backed off from the kitchen and all the madness, and ran back upstairs. "DAD!!" he yelled at the door that supposedly held his fathers room. He banged on it until it ominously cracked open with a creaking sound. "D-d-d-dad?" he called in through the small opening.
No answer.
He pushed the door open more and stepped inside. The bed was different. The windows were rectangular. And who was that in the bed...?
A figure sat up in the bed. It looked like a woman, in her thirties, and turned to face the window opposite from Makuda. Makuda thought he had figured out who she was...
"MOM!!!"
The figure turned to face Makuda. In that very instant, Makuda's switched back to the bored expression he had on before. Except now he was slightly angry. This wasn't his mother. This was a fraud, an old bimbo who snuck into his mother's house, messing around with his dad.
"Gold?" the figure called to him.
"NO!! NO I'M NOT GOLD!! I DON'T KNOW WHO TH—""Shhh, be careful with your words, my Gold."
"What?" Makuda whispered to himself. He walked over to the bathroom, which was placed in an oddly different location, just like everything else. He turned around, and a very strange surprise was in the mirror...
Makuda was absolutely speechless. His face was paler, and he had jet-black, spiky hair. And the worst part: He looked like Gold.
Makuda shook his head. OK, maybe he was hallucinating, and he didn't look like an anime character from an outdated game. Or, he was in a nightmare because he drank too much store brand soda last night. Yeah, that was it! "All I have to do is pinch myself! Yes, I've figured out the answer!!"
He reached for the skin right below his wrist and pinched hard. That instant, Makuda knew he was not in a dream...
"OOOOOOOWWW!!!!"
