The Gotei 13 did not know about holidays until we were educated about them by my Vice Captain. It seems that she learned about more things than she should have during her missions to the human world. Anyways, I noticed that she is not as close to me as she once was. It is my fault that I did not take her up on any offers to go to the spa and stuff. She kept asking me to go because she wanted to get close to me. I am so hardheaded that it took me just now to realize that. The "Love" Holiday was approaching, so I devised a plan to bring back the closeness I once shared with my Vice Captain, Matsumoto.
Valentine's Day arrived and my plan was set up perfectly. The 10th squad had to take care of some miniscule tasks (i.e. paperwork, killing hollows, etc). Luckily for us, we had the entire afternoon off. After talking with my squad, I pulled my new 3rd Seat to the side (Hinamori) and gave her a note so she could give it to Matsumoto. She started cooing me, asking me why I wanted to give her new Vice Captain a note. I blushed, replying with something along the lines of "important" Captain- Vice Captain business. She gave a grin and proceeded towards the spa so she could deliver the note.
Hinamori had a long day, so she decided since she was going to run the errand on behalf of her new Captain, she too would relax at the spa. She recognized the strong strawberry-fragranced scent coming from her Vice Captain's locker, so she carefully placed the note inside. Matsumoto had just stepped in the spa when Hinamori literally jumped in it. She apologized and immediately started conversing with her about girl stuff. 20 minutes later, she exited the water. Before she entered the lockers, she told her Vice Captain that a note was waiting for her.
I was waiting anxiously for what seemed like an eternity when Matsumoto finally arrived. My goodness, did she look stunning with that red dress on! Anyways, I thanked her for coming and wasted no time in executing my plan. I told her that I was sorry for being such a hardheaded person and that I wanted to change that. I professed something that was finally thawed- my feelings. Matsumoto listened as I told her that I liked her and that I wanted to get close to her. Her expression was emotionless. The last thing I told her to do was stand back because a surprise was waiting for her.
"Don't mess the dress," so to speak.
When she was far enough back, it was time. 30 yards ahead of me lay a giant steel box that shattered when I unsheathed my zanpaktou, went bankai, and did Sennen Hyourou. It revealed a big blue heart of ice, made by yours truly. I asked Matsumoto to be my Valentine. She came back with her zanpaktou in tow. She released Haineko in shikai, cleaving the heart I busted my butt in making in half.
"A Tigres Toku doesn't change its stripes overnight," she said.
I was heartbroken.
"Today could've been a start…"
