This is just a quick little drabble that struck me that I wanted to do. Hope you enjoy!
Nobody could quite understand how those two had wound up together.
Actually, some people had a hard time understanding how either of them could end up together with anyone. I mean, really, what girl would want him? He was short and none too handsome, and that was beside all the defects in his actual personality. And for that matter, what kind of guy would actually want her? Granted she was at least good looking, but again, to most the way she acted left something to be desired.
And the two really couldn't have been more different. He was, if nothing else, a stable kind of person; he usually spoke calmly, flatly, in a very matter-of-fact tone that belied how little he knew about things. She, of course, was anything but stable; prone to sudden mood-swings, bursts of temper followed by schoolgirlish giggling, people usually felt a bit nervous around her, not knowing at what point she would get upset and attack you, with what or why.
If you talked to him, your first impression would be that he was pretty stupid; he was slow, it was true, but only because he was cautious, always measuring his words, even though it was pointless, he would say something stupid no matter how careful he was. She never took care to make people think she was anything but she was: she didn't seem to mind if anybody thought she was odd, but was always sure to remind people that she was a genius as well. And both, indeed, could prove to be smarter than anybody thought, whether it was from the way he casually spoke to the Playa des Losers staff in Mandarin or the way she would make elaborate plans in her notebook for the counter-terrorism job she was planning on getting next summer.
And the more people watched, the more they saw other little similarities in the way the two acted. He was level-headed, sure, but sometimes he seemed to enjoy being talked into adventures; the whole point of coming on this show, after all, had always been for him to try new things. And she, oddly enough, seemed to be tamed a bit by his calmness, his logic; he seemed able to bring her down from her worse manias and kept her from ever getting into too much trouble. (...Mostly.)
He was her rock; she was his wings. He was her brain; she was his heart. He kept her from killing herself; she made him feel alive.
"Come on, Zeke! Let's go, whoo-hoo!"
"Uh-uh-uh," he said sternly, wagging a finger at her and grabbing her arm. "What was oor agreement?"
She sighed, crossing her arms like a petulant child. "We actually use the cords this time."
"Ayup-yup," he said, strapping the bungee wire to Izzy's hip.
"You know, you're no fun sometimes, Zeke."
"Well, then it's a good thing I have you, eh?"
Okay, who guessed it and when? ;-) Thanks to Imagi and Winter-Rae for creating this pairing. Please feel free to leave a review!
