Hello, Read here. I wrote this while listening to this song and it got me thinking about Hermione's POV about going to destroy the Horcruxes. I wrote it mostly by myself but decided not to post it on my personal account. Write beta-ed it.
Disclaimer: Not J.K. Never was, never will be.
She was so scared.
But she let no one see it.
Bill and Fleur's wedding had been beautiful. She knew it was going to be the last time she'd feel safe like that for a while. A long while.
None of them knew how long it would take to find all the horcruxes. It could take weeks, months, years maybe. They were, after all, trying to save the world.
She couldn't sleep - not when she knew what was laying ahead.
So she prayed. She didn't know really whom she was praying to. She wasn't praying to God or whoever might be up there. No, she was praying to anyone that might hear.
She prayed for the three of them to be safe, to have enough wisdom to be able to do this.
She would give her life for either of them, she knew; she prayed she wouldn't have too, nor them either.
She prayed for their courage. She knew she had courage. They all had courage. Just look at what they had done before. They had saved the Sorcerer's Stone, defeated the memory that was Tom Riddle, saved Sirius from the dementors. Harry, facing Lord Voldemort in combat. They went to the Ministry together, faced some of the darkest Death Eaters, and protected one another no matter what. Then the year after that: Death Eaters at Hogwarts. Dumbledore…dead. They could have died, too.
Oh, yes, they had courage. She prayed that it wouldn't fail them in their time of need.
And so, she prayed. She prayed that they could do this. She prayed she could be strong for those two boys. She knew them like the back of her hand. She prayed and hoped they would be alright. That they would find shelter when they were lost or hurt. That they would be smart enough, fast enough, strong enough. She prayed that they could be safe.
Hermione closed her trunk and took out her wand. She opened the door to the top bedroom to see the peaceful asleep faces of her best friends. The one she loved, and the one she loved like a brother.
"Harry, Ron, get up. It's time to go."
