Yeah I took a crack at it...*Cringe* Here's my SAKE' (The Japanese DRINK sake'? No? YES!)
Going back to the cabin in the trees.
Going back to the creek beneath the hill.
There's a girl used to live there when I left,
But I doubt that she'll be waiting for me still.
I remember way back when, though not really long ago,
Back when I was young and all was right,
Back when I first looked in her eyes.
What I wouldn't give to see them one more time.
A broken melody is all that's left,
A few scars here and there mark the life I've led.
Unfocused eyes tell of all I've seen throughout the years.
Now all that's left is a bitter rain of tears.
I'm going back to the cabin in the trees,
Going back to the creek beneath the hill.
There's a girl used to live there when I left,
But I doubt that she'll be waiting for me still.
I've lived a thousand days in foreign lands,
Near given my life for the countrys' crown,
Taken hundreds down just to stay alive,
But now I fear, after all these years
That there's no one there to say hello,
There's no one left in my homeland.
Just mirrors, ghosts, and foggy pasts
To remind me that nothing truly lasts.
But now I'm here I must return,
It might do some good to walk the older paths again.
But would it still be worth it if I found
That my nightmares are reality and there's no one around?
I'm going back to the cabin in the trees,
Going back to the creek beneath the hill.
There's a girl used to live there when I left,
But I doubt that she'll be waiting for me still.
I round another corner and I cross another ford,
Up another incline and down a winding woodland road.
I see everything I used to know, how my heart is racing now.
Even as fast as I can run will always be too slow.
I'm scared to death but I've got to see,
Though I doubt that she's still here for me,
I go faster yet and then stop dead in fear;
Still terrified that everything's different, after all these years.
I draw level with the cabin and I knock upon the door,
Everything is just the way that it was so long before.
But as the door is opened, to my touch leaping inside,
My eyes fill with tears for my hopes have come alive.
I've come back to the cabin in the trees,
Back to the creek beneath the hill.
The girl that used to live here before I left,
After three long years has waited for me, still.
She's standing there, smiling that smile
That I've known in my heart, that helped me walk miles.
She's holding a child, our firstborn son,
And it's good to be back, now the battle is won.
