My First FanFic! So please be kind and turn a blind eye to those little mistakes and grammatical errors you may find. A HG&DM thing.
If you were to meet them, here's exactly what you'd see ...
A tall, pale blonde boy clasping the hand of a not-tall-but-tall-enough girl with curly dark hair.
Three guesses who they are.
The most controversial couple in the wizarding world since Melinda the Great and Rodney Jr. II., year 1654. (They were so wrong for each other)
"I can't stand it, Draco," Hermione whispered. "Everyone's staring."
Hermione was not one to cave in from peer pressure but this was different. They had just ducked into a little diner and even that proved fatal. All eyes swiveled round to stare at the strange couple.
The son of Lucius Malfoy and descendant of Salazar Slytherin has found himself a partner! But who is she?
The whispering started. The whispering started becoming louder and louder. Soon, reporters from the Daily Prophet were swarming around them like bees. Draco reached into his robes and grabbed his wand.
"No!" Hermione squeaked. Draco's face was carefully emotionless but his eyes were brimming over with annoyance and anger. "Let's just go, Draco."
"I refuse to be driven away by them."
"Oh, Draco," Hermione groaned, a tone she saved for special occasions. Soon they were sitting in Hermione's rented apartment. If i weren't for Hermione, never would he thought to have set foot in a Mudblood's accommodation! But this was different. She was different.
And he ... well ... he quite liked having her around.
"Draco," Hermione said hesitatively. "I haven't spoken to Harry or Ron in weeks. Ever since we got together."
And a good thing too, Draco felt like retorting. "What're you trying to say, Granger?"
Hermione smiled. She loved it when he called her Granger.
"I ... I ... did a bit of thinking," Hermione went on. "And ... well ... I decided that if they were really my friends, they would, you know, support my choices. My relationships."
"Ah. I suppose you want to tell them about ..."
"Yes. Us. About us. But Draco ... if they don't ... well! Give me their blessings ..."
Hermione's eyes brimmed over. "What I'm trying to say is ... I really miss them Draco. Do you understand that?"
No! "Yeah, kind of."
"No, you don't," Hermione said, exasperated. "I can't have two things at once, Draco. It's either this or that."
"What? Either them or me?" Draco suddenly understood what she was trying to say. "Hermione! I thought ... you were ... I thought we had something good going on here!"
"My new life is brilliant, Draco," Hermione tried smiling through her tears. "But ... I miss my old life. More than you can imagine. And ... I want to go back to Hogwarts."
Draco was speechless. "I thought we agreed ... to stay away from that place!"
"I'm sorry, Draco," Hermione whispered. "If Harry's OK with this and Ron's OK with this then ... well, I don't see why I should give up my new life! But ..."
Her voice trailed off.
Draco nodded slowly. "I was just going along for the fun of it anyway!" he snapped and walked out, slamming the door behind him.
Strange. He felt empty.
Hollow.
Great, he thought. I've forgotten her already.
But his heart knew the truth.
