:.:.This is my first story, so please, be gentle! This is about this past marching year, at a competition at our school. It's not exactly what happened, but this was kinda what I was thinking during the award ceremony. I don't own the schools. They are real. This fic is based on a true story, lol. .:.: ________________________________________________________________________
I sat with my friend Ashley, watching and hoping, even praying, as one by one, the ratings were given out. We had just finished a big competition held at our own school. The last competition until State. Suddenly, we heard:

"Burke High School, Superior."

.and we all cheered louder than any other school. I literally couldn't hear anything for a minute after screaming, although there was an odd ringing going through my head. All I could think about was placing now. We had gotten the Superior, but would we change Burke history forever? Would we be the first band in our school to ever place at any competition? We certainly deserved it. My mind flashed through our season.

..The first football game. We already knew the entire show. That might not sound like much, but let's just say, our band wasn't exactly known to be the best band out there. But this year was different. In an attempt to make our show more theatrical, we had added a shaolin dance in the beginning of our show that made the crowds cheer louder than ever, even though we couldn't exactly get our timing exactly together. Mid-show, the flute section picked up flags and joined color guard. We were better than they were! We made pictures of Chinese symbols on the field, and worked ten times harder than ever before. We knew we could do better than last year at State.

". Burke High School, Excellent." Those four words were the reason our band was working so hard. After all our hard work, we still had earned a two at State last year.

.Suddenly, my mind shot back to the present as the third place trophy was picked up. Would we get it? Would we finally be able to win the one thing we always wanted-a placing in our own competiton- that beautiful piece of shiny hardware was going to, oh no..Millard West. We didn't get third.

Could we have gotten second? Could our humble school beaten the one school that had enough money to buy nice things for their show? No, second went to Roosevelt, from South Dakota. What?! Their show was awesome. There is no way we could have beaten them. Their Eygptian theme even included fountains with water that turned to "blood" and a huge stage that held their amwazing pit section. Finally, the announcer called the one last award...

".First place, Bellevue East."

There's always next year. ________________________________________________________________________ :.:.Please review! Thanx! .:.:
