Like Reid, Molly Mars was also a genius and had a slightly higher IQ than his. She was the same age. However her life experiences were much different than Reid. Both of her parents had very high IQ's and they had been socialized well. Reid hadn't for the most part. The fact that someone was smarter than he was fascinated Reid. The pair often spent hours talking to each other about everything from science fiction to engineering.
It was Molly that had helped Reid when he had to put his mother into a sanatorium. She helped him out a lot. His father wasn't around and there was no other relatives who had stepped in to help. She really felt sorry for him. It was like he was alone in the world.
When they were 18, Molly talked Reid into crashing a high school prom. She managed to pull this off but within a half and a hour, they were bored out of their minds. The dress that she picked out was very noticeable. She looked like a character out of Star Wars or Star Trek. Instead of picking out a prom dress, she had decided to wear the dress that she normally wore to a Star Trek Convention. They decided to leave.
They went and watched a science fiction movie instead, all dressed up. People kind of looked at them like they were crazy. They didn't care though.
Twelve years later the couple still went to the Star Trek Convention together as husband and wife.
