"It's gorgeous, Sister Dara."
The sunlight painted the sky red, pink, purple, and blue. The mountains were glowing, and the lake had turned a rich blue color.
"I do not doubt it."
The two women let out sighs, one at the beauty, the other wistfully.
"If there is one thing I would wish to see, it would be this."
"Truly Dara?"
"Truly Brigid."
"Then your wish is mine."
One woman closed her eyes. The other opened them for the first time and gasped.
"Oh, Brigid…"
"It's amazing, isn't it?"
"Indescribable."
The two sat there until the sun had disappeared and the stars began to come out. When the moon began to rise, one woman turned to the other.
"Brigid?"
"Yes, Dara?"
"No more."
"That was enough?"
"That was enough."
The two women closed their eyes, and this time, only one opened them.
"Thank you, Brigid."
"It was only through God."
"Then Deus gratia."
"Amen."
The moon rose in silence.
