She was Catlin Todd
1 year, 52 weeks, 365 days, that's how long it had been since that day, that spring day, when his world had fallen apart, been tipped upside down, and one bullet was all it had taken.
The sun was arm against his pale face, standing there he looked at the grave, he did not judge her, or remember her faults, but remember a time when all was different. The 'Silver Fox' stood there, a tear in his eye, yet no one saw. She was the only one who'd looked past the mask, taken nothing, and wanted nothing in return. But even all of her good, all of her peace and kindness could not capture and tame the guilt in his heart, for she had saved his life, jumped into the line of fire for him, and survived, yet died mealy minutes later, died due to spite, due to revenge and hate, yet not from her did these feelings of darkness come. But from the man who had made all this happen.
He remembered that last night, yet again she'd wanted to take care of him, to watch and protect him, yet not a thought had he given to her safety. They'd slept in the office while he'd worked, his children as he considered them, not wanting to leave his side. Yet not where they scared to die, nor to protect, yet why? Why would they, his children, his agents want to die for him?
For once he didn't care about letting his guard down, about allowing his emotions to run free, because today was her day, a day to remember, a day to cry, to laugh at old times. For that was who she was, not afraid to cry or laugh, not afraid to remember. She was that person, she was Catlin Todd.
