"Jethro, wait," The director stopped Gibbs from entering the conference room.
"Yes?"
"I don't need to remind you how important these men are, do I?"
"No Jen. I'm quite capable of –"
"I know. I just…" she paused, not quite sure what she wanted to tell him. "These men have the power to call an investigation of Special Agent DiNozzo. I'm not saying he wouldn't pass any of their tests, it's just that… well this could turn very serious if he's not considered a responsible, sensible agent capable of running his own team one day."
"I know that Jen."
"Yes, yes I know you do." She didn't really know why she felt the need to emphasize the importance of this meeting, but she did.
"Can I go in now Director?" Gibbs raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, yes let's go."
They moved into the room and Gibbs sat on the opposite side of the table to the serious-looking men in suits.
Gibbs started telling them all they needed to know about his agent.
"Special Agent DiNozzo is one of the best agents I have ever had under my command," Gibbs spoke truthfully. He went on to tell them how Tony could be responsible, serious, dedicated… He wasn't lying. Tony could be all those things. When it was a matter of life and death. He just chose not to be the rest of the time.
After he'd finished, Jen called Tony into the room.
Just as he was shaking the last man's hand and sitting down, Tony's cell began to ring. The ring tone blasted out across the room.
Play that funky music white-boy!
There was nothing else to do at that moment. Gibbs laughed.
I dunno where that came from really. I'm just bored. And listening to one of my dad's CDs. But hey, since it's here…reviews would be nice!
