Moonlight Sonata

The moon was full in the sky. She walked along the dark path, winding through the tombstones, a single black rose in her hands, a small line of blood around her clenched fist. She did not mind the thorns though, she probably deserved them. After all she had done, after all that had happened. The moonlit graveyard chilled her, but seeing as her heart had already turned black that did not matter. If she could be doing anything else at this point she would gladly do it, but unfortunately this was one of those things.

She lost everything that had meaning to her. It would only be a short time before her father died, she thought, leaving her with absolutely nothing. What had gone wrong? Where else could she have turned to avoid all of this?

Finding the grave she wanted, she knelt down. This was by far not the first time she had visited a grave, but this was one of the more personal ones. This was the first time she had ever been to visit someone that had died, and was also a very good friend. Even if in the end she was nothing more than that, a friend, in the end she knew that what they had shared extended well beyond that. They had shared so much and she felt like she had used him in in the end. It did not matter anyway, he was in the ground now.

"I brought you this..." she said, lying the rose on the ground in front of the tombstone. "And..." she reached inside her coat and pulled out a drawing. Black and white. "This," she said, choking back the tears, "this is you."

The sketch fell out of her loose grip, some blood darkening the edges. The tears exploded from her. "Oh God," she whispered, her voice hoarse. "Why did this have to happen?"

She stood up, ready to run. She could see his smiling face on the back of her closed eyelids. This was one nightmare she would never run away from. Every time she closed her eyes she only saw his face, every time she saw Brooke it would only remind her of everything that had happened. There was nowhere she could go with out seeing him, being reminded of him.

And she knew that would kill her. For the rest of her life.
