Disclaimer: Do not own! Just toying with the plotbunnies!
Character Centric: 10th Doctor (Might be slightly OOC)
Summary: It's truly one of his biggest fears and one of the main reasons why he rarely do the domestic thing.
A/N: This little plotbunny decided to attack me while I rewatched Season 3, Episode 6 (The Lazarus Experiment. ) Remember how the Doctor looked extremely uncomfortable? While I doubt he had any romantic feelings towards Martha (due Rose), there's always this whole "Oh, just am a Time Lord, and decided to take your daughter on a few trips around the universe…" explanation if it ever comes up. Would make anyone uncomfterbal in my book!

He was never good at handling this...
Sure, a Dalek army or a few thousands. Sure, no problem – well not that much of a problem at least.
A couple of Cybermen? Pfft! What's the rush?
A few other aliens or wars? Ah, get in line and please, do not push eachother around while hoping there'd be enough of Doctor-chasing for you all.
A Paradox or Vortex here and there? Weeell…Sticky and all buttery, but still not entirely impossible to solve.

But this? This was something else. Something huge. Something every being should be absolute terrified of. Drawing a hand over his face and looking over the room, searching, praying that there would be something. Some distraction; some speck of trouble brewing in a corner or behind someone. Just so he could have the perfect excuse not to do this.

"No mum, this is a friend of mine, The Doctor." The voice sounded fairly far away, but he kept searching, hoping that at least a little bit of trouble might blow into proportions. Anything to cause a distraction. Hopefully.

As the man stretched out his hand in greeting he duly shook it, but couldn't help but look over the shoulder of said man. No. No trouble yet. Darn. Then he shook Martha's mothers hand and said "Lovely to met you Mrs. Jones. I've heard a lot about you."

"Have you? What have you heard then?"

Fidgeting slightly he then looked slightly sheepish and said "Well…that your - Martha's mother."
This was exactly why he did not do domestic things. This and Jackie Tyler, one look at Martha and he knew that he really should stop talking right this instant. His gaze moved to a spot around Martha's shoulder, still no sign of excuse to find distractions or trouble. Blast.

The conversation, moving from awkward to just plain embarrassing he managed to get out "…stuff…" finally as the light dimmed down and there it was. Finally. A distraction! He could do that!

No matter what he constantly claimed to his companions, the Daleks was not entirely his biggest fear. Sure they topped the list. But. Meeting the parents of his companions that could truly take the place of his "Biggest fears"- list.
