My Other Half
Alone my heart bleeds from the pain,
A pain of knowing you are gone.
I am left without my partner, my mate,
My other half is gone forever.
How I wish we could have grown old together,
Watching those we love grow and mature.
Now they are without a trusted friend,
While I am without my other half.
The beauty you held and possessed,
The love and joy you freely did give.
All those qualities no other can replace,
No matter how hard one does look.
I gave and told you my secrets,
I confessed my hopes and wishes.
Never did you laugh at them once,
Nor did you speak of them to others.
You were the air I breathed,
The foundation of my life and existence,
The air beneath my wings in flight,
The other half of my heart and soul.
