A Letter to Kairi (Riku)
Before enduring Yen Sid's Keyblade Mastery training, Riku decides to write a letter to a dear old friend while Sora is off goofing around with Donald and Goofy.
Hey Kairi. It's Riku. How's life been? I thought I'd send you a letter before I go through my Keyblade Mastery training. Honestly, I'm a little nervous. What if the training is so intense, I never come back? Yen Sid's a powerful magician. It'll be tough work for sure, but if it's what I have to do to protect our home, I'll do whatever it takes. We've always been like that, You, me, and Sora. Even when we were kids, we always took matters into our own hands. We made a makeshift raft and had only two or three tiny fish to last our whole journey. We were stupid, but we loved every second that passed by. Then the heartless came. I tried everything I could to get you back. I sold my soul to darkness and almost lost the only people that ever loved me. Sora didn't. Through everything, he kept his head high and never gave up. Sora's the light at the end of our tunnels. Because of him, I wasn't afraid to be by the King's side of Kingdom Hearts instead of yours. I knew Sora would be the one to take care of you.
As the words from Riku's mind seemed to float onto the page, his smile turned cold as he composed himself and started to write more forceful and seriously.
Look, we both know Sora cares about you a lot. He may not be the sharpest Keyblade in the kingdom, but he can protect you. I was in the dark for way too long and you deserve better. I became the thing I hated most. Ansem. Sora was the one to pull me out. Plus, don't think I didn't see the drawing on the cave wall. He loves you and if you ever had feelings for me like that, put them aside and love Sora. I'll find somebody else that can carry me through to the light.
Riku clenches the feather harder and harder as tears start to bleed onto the paper.
Take care of yourself, ok? Sora wouldn't forgive himself if anything happened to you while we were away. I wouldn't either.
Your Best Friend,
Riku
Riku gets up, puts the letter in the envelope, puts the ever-important King Mickey seal in the center. He whispers the one thing that's on his mind.
I love you, Kairi.
I don't own Kingdom Hearts or Square Enix. I wrote this short story as a fan. A Letter to Kairi (Sora) along with A Letter From Kairi will be out soon. Hope you guys liked it. Give me some feedback.
