Jocelyn got up. She yawned at looked at the time. "Oh crap!" She was already late for school.

"Why bother?" She sat on her bed, already feeling guilty. "Wait, I have no parents. Why bother?"

She lay down, sighing.

She heard a knock on the door. She got up and went to the door.

"Oh, Hi…" Jocelyn said, yawning.

"Hi, Joss" The guy said looking behind her.

"Ok, Alex, what do you want" She muttered.

"I was late, and decided to stop by!" He said, still looking behind her. Her house was a mess…

She sighed. Why would he be late to? "Alex. I'm really tired. Why are you here" She looked outside, the sun was almost halfway to the middle of the sky. She was missing out on learning economics in social studies.

"Look on the Brightside" Alex said, staring into her eyes. His eyes… had a weird orange spark in them for a spit second.

"Ha right when you said that it turned cloudy. What a way to make my day!" Jocelyn said sarcastically. Alex glared at her. He hated it when she was sarcastic. He looked at his watch.

Jocelyn shut the door on his face. She had known him for 8 years. He had never been this weird before. She went back to the kitchen, where she turned on the lights, which were really dim. She opened her cupboard and took out some ramen. She read the instructions and made it.

"Maybe I shouldn't have shut the door on his face." She felt even more guilty. She started to eat her spicy shrimp ramen. Then she thought, Why did he have that spark in his eye? That was really weird. Probably my imagination. After she thought that she thought of Brockton. Her crush. He was shy just like her. That would never ever happen though. She walked in her room.

When she got to her room, there was a black figure inside, by the door, waiting for her. He had a crowbar. He smashed her in the head with it.
