I listened to this song, and then Nathan/Peyton came into my mind, somehow even though Lucas ended with Peyton and Nathan ended with Haley. Peyton and Nathan will always have my heart. I do truly believe that Mark gave up on them way to easily.

Lyrics are bold.

They had just broken up, for what seemed to be the last time. They had their ups and downs. He was his first everything, and she sure loved the boy more than life itself sometimes. He treated her like crap most of the time, but she loved those rare moments where he would take her into his arms and hold her close, and kiss her. There wasn't an 'I love you' or a forever involved. It didn't need to be. She knew that she was his girl. That was all that mattered. At least, back then that was all that mattered.

She just watched him, keep on walking out of the door. She really wish she could run up to him, and he tell her he would change for the better, instead of seeing him walk away, while he begins to be his past, instead of what hoped was her future.

But he came back, he looked at her. With puppy sad eyes.

"What happened to us Peyton?" she closed her eyes, and took a deep breath before beginning.

" I don't know your face anymore Nate, I don't feel the touch that I used to adore. It used to drive me crazy just a simple touch from you. We're just strangers now" she had to take a pause, she was getting tears in her eyes. " I used to be able to read you, did you know that? I would know what you were thinking without you having to tell me, but I don't know your thoughts anymore, these days." She started to cry, all she wanted was for the boy that she loved with all her heart to hold her. Somehow, she knew he wouldn't. how, she hated that. This was the boy, she pictured her life with. She was supposed to walk down the aisle and he would be there waiting for her. They were supposed to grow old together.

"Peyt…"

"I get it alright, you hate Lucas. I get it. But why did you have to push me away? You said you loved me. I was your girl. And I loved you, I still do. I just don't understand where your heart is these days."

"Peyt, can we please start over? Where it was just the two of us, and we were happy, where you'd play the cure while I practiced basketball, and you'd watch while trying to do a sketch."

All she could do was smile, while nodding and he'd hug her.

She loved this boy, she really did.

Alright, hate me but I just can't seem to write a story where Nathan and Peyton don't get a happy ending. I can't seem to be that kind of writer.

How was it ?
